Tire Rack says not ever again, dealer says maybe at $299/each. Good used can even help me! Thanks in advance. I'm in digest so direct replies appreciated. Anyway, I noticed that when I lifted the box the bars are rattling around inside the Eibach box. Is that how they usually got delivered, for all those who just recently got their bars. No time to open I have to plow the driveway... Gerry ===== Gerry 97 M3/4 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Shopping - Thousands of Stores. #4. Hood vents and Spax shocks - from Jason Leung

Date: Mon, 11 Dec 2000 16:14:58 -0600 From: Jason Leung <jleung20@flash.net> Subject: Hood vents and Spax shocks I was thinking of adding a hood vent to the passenger front portion of the MOD (My buddies call the 332i turbo the Machine of Destruction) to vent air to the air intake. I was thinking along the lines of a mesh covered vent. Does anybody know where I could get one? I looked at the hood of a Jaguar XKR but decided those vents look a little goofy on a BMW (elliptical slats). Subaru's Imprezza has vents too, albeit a little small. I seem to remember an e36 in European car with horizontal slats to duct air towards an air filter at the front passenger side...does anybody know what I'm talking about here? Moreover, I'm wondering if a hood vent would actually suck air AWAY from the air filter and OUT the engine compartment? Wouldn't there be high pressure zone outside the hood and thus suck air out? Also, anybody ever use SPAX shocks? I need to replace my leaky Konis out back and note that SPAX shocks are double adjustable in the rear for approx $200 each, and externally adjustable to boot! Unfortunately, the bars are about 30 pounds (a little lighter) and the box is way too long for the two sway bars. So what happens when Mr. UPS throws your box from one truck to another? The bars break the piece of cardboard holding them in place. A better solution would be for them to tie-wrap the bars to the box itself or something...or well. But trust me, nothing bad is going to happen to the bars =) ...well, except for some paint chips or something like that. Oh...I was just joking when I wrote of splitfires ;) I know, I know...BMW OE plugs all the way! > To make sure all the bases get covered - you're going to need to remove the > plastic cover to get to all of that. I think I once pulled the topmost cover in order to open the wire harness more fully when installing my gauges (as per Jim Powell's instructions) and ended up not fully reinstalling the covers back....I lost them =( I replaced them....at like $3 a pop or so...doh! > > What about the throttle body cleaning that someone brought up on > bimmer.org? > > Worth looking into? > > Dunno, haven't read about it (don't tend to read over there). Well, the guy wrote something about carbon depostis around the throttle butterfly. He also spoke of adjusting the throttle cable, but that's a bit touchy...I've heard Ron Stygar has an interesting story about that one =) ttyl, Chester ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Really? I think my tranny bushings are sagging. I also throught that NYC streets and all the bumps would take their toll on the bushings sooner than later. I also remember reading a snip from either Carl Buckland of Carter Hunt (dunno which) that said that his 100K+ '95 or so car was still rock solid...and he gave a list of maintenance items that he usually performed. Just thought I'd be proactive. > > Anything I left out? > > However I would be replacing the rear shock mounts, unless you laready have. Yup....did that along with a new fuel filter a few months ago (and I'm still living to talk about it ;) Thanks, Chester ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Stephen suggested soft/soft as he probably thinks that stiff/soft might be a bit too conservative. I have mine set to soft/soft since it's the Winter and I didn't want it too stiff up front. I also thought that I could deal with the slightly more aggressive setting =) HTH, Chester > My Eibach sways are going on soon also. And if there's no expert around, trained amateurs will work just as well :-) It's amazing what you can remove from a car with a forklift and REALLY BIG jack stands :-) An E30 motor & tranny, for example (several times :-)). Cheers, Jim Bassett - designated forklift driver 1998 M3/4 - yes, it's been lifted onto jack stands with said forklight (whimper :-))

Bleed brake fluid (ATF Super Blue) 3. Air filter (K&N) 4. Spark plugs (Bosch Platinum +4) Check brake pads, belts. Change out tranny fluid, fuel filter for peace of mind but not neccessary.
