I did see a M3 up there with snow tires on it and it seems like it was quite at home. I would recommend against it because I've taken my SUV up on many occasions and for giggles took it out of 4 wheel drive a few times. Most of the time I was unable to move at all with just the back wheels turning, and I also have a LSD. I put it back in 4x4 and everything was back to normal. In an M3 you would be sooo hosed. No chains, no possibility of chains. If you can't move, you can't move. Bring your cell phone. hmmm... after thinking about things, I have a slight retraction. You generally get quite a bit of warning if its going to snow up there. If you were going for a day trip and it hasn't snowed in last 3 or 4 days, you should be fine. I think there are some web cams. Might want to see how white the streets look. Date: Mon, 18 Dec 2000 17:42:35 EST From: Jzy308@aol.com Subject: re windshield wipers, etc. Bad experience with OEM. Replaced the blades on my E26 328I many times with Bosch, very happy. Went from 328I to M3 and while in the dealers for wash soap, asked them to replace the blades. Presented with a $64.95 bill! Dealer said no way to replace blades only, had to replace entire wiper arm. I told the dealer I never had to do that with the 328I and asked him for the old wiper arms, then went out and compared with the new: could see no difference, but dealer insisted that new blades required new arms! Like a dummy, I let it go at that. (OK to call him stealer?) Six months later, I bought Bosch replacements and found that OEM blades do not have locks like the Bosch, and had a helluva time getting them off. It is Bosch from here on in. Carl Sewell

It is so that when I drive, I can have enough time to spot the pesky Beemer uh, enforcement vehicles. My last pair, Maui Jim, while polarized and all, was too dark and costed me a ticket (if I had saw the guy a half a second sooner, I woulda slowed down just enough...). They told me that the stock flywheel has one larger mounting hole, where the dowel fits and that the TC Kline flywheel doesn't have this. Does that sound right? they said that they can just enlarge the hole so it'll fit onto the stock locating dowel. Please let me know ASAP if that sounds correct or if the flywheel is defective. I get mad wheelspin in first gear. My 235/40r17 AVS intermediates (at $102 a piece) are ok, though. Ron Katona said about 245/40r17 hoosiers: > remember) and really like the combination. They fit up front on my car > without spacers, but the rear required fender rolling. What?! really? my 245/40r17 G-force R1As didn't even come close to fitting with the stock 17x8.5 wheels, even with a 5mm spacer. With a 10mm spacer, they fit ok. I have H&R coilovers, though. The car is lowered shy of 2" in the front and 1.2" in the rear. Heck, my 245/40r17 AVS sports on 17x8 40mm BBS RKs didn't even fit. -kit, squeaky clutch pedal, non fitting flywheel, non fitting tires 10mm hubcentric spacers 97 m3/4

#9. HVAC whistle? - from eevans@planetc.com

Date: Mon, 18 Dec 2000 20:01:03 -0500 From: eevans@planetc.com Subject: HVAC whistle? Hi, Anyone out there have a whistle coming from the fan while the air or heat is on? It doesn't do it all the time, but is quite annoying when it starts. BTW, I also cannot turn my directional air flow knob to full windshield mode. It hangs at about half way up. I've pulled the radio out trying to see if a cable or something is binding, but I can't see anything. Any ideas? While I'm at it. My car is a '95 w/ 58K and sometimes at a red light w/ the clutch fully depressed I'll grind first gear when trying to shift. I always put the car in neutral clutch out when stopped. Is my clutch getting ready to let go or do I have a syncro problem? TIA Evan

Date: Mon, 18 Dec 2000 17:10:14 US/Pacific From: peter@guagenti.com Subject: Rattling from Tranny? Okay helpful listers, I need some advice: Symptom: When my '95 M3 is cold, and I'm pulling out off my car, I'll get a rattle/clunking sound when I disengage my clutch. Happens mostly when I depress the clutch coming to a stop from first gear. It is easily replicable. Possible Diagnosis: It almost sounds like the transmission mounts are bad and when I depress the clutch the driveline is settling (it's that loud). I planned on upgrading the mounts and seeing if that does it, but is there something else I should consider? As always, any help is greatly appreciated. - peterg ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using HiSpeed Technologies Webmail. http://www.hispeed.com
