Rear shock upper mounts. Replace 'em with something other than OEM. Ground Control and JTD both have better solutions. - Rich

I have a sneaking feeling that Chester is right and it's the bearing. Is there any way to test this? -p

#7. New shoes-RE-730's - from Ed Tang
Top
Date: Tue, 19 Dec 2000 06:10:22 -0800 (PST) From: Ed Tang <etangf1@yahoo.com> Subject: New shoes-RE-730's I run the factory recommended 33F/36R for the street. It's at the autocrosses that I set it up for oversteer at 38F/35R and adjust from there. The tires are great for a low price street tire but they suck for autocrossing. After my R compounds wore to the belts I was forced to use it for the last autocross. The squeal was heard miles away and under heavy braking, it would exhibit faux wheel lock-up b/c the wheel was still moving but the tire was sliding across the pavement. It could be the cold pavement in Chicago at an end of a season. When you switch from your R compound to the RE-730's, you will see the huge difference. When you switch from those R's to the S-02 PP, you really don't notice too much. But the price difference truly reflects that. If somebody could just shoot me the proper chemical to soak it in (kerosene, gas, etc) I would appreciate it. Thanks, -jeff

They are polarized and have great optics (Corning). http://www.serengeti-eyewear.com/ I am not sure the Kinetix Strata are still made but they are still available to buy at some merchants. Per one website: Kinetix Strata lenses are photochromic lenses combined with a unique polarizing filter that excels in bright sunlight and minimizes the intense glare reflected off water. Excellent for sailing, boating and fishing. They also do not seem very dark compared to almost all others. They definitely sharpen my vision. They come in a variety of styles. They are excellent for driving to sailing, boating and fishing as well. They are pricey though. I did a mail order place about five years back and got them for about 50% of retail. Best regards, Rich

My poor 245/40r17 G-force R1A's can't even hold up to 223 ft lbs >at the rear wheels. I get mad wheelspin in first gear. My 235/40r17 >AVS intermediates (at $102 a piece) are ok, though. g-force R1A's are, of course, race compound tires. meaning, of course, that they are pretty much WORTHLESS until they are heated up. and i don't mean heated up by driving around the block. i mean heated up by taking 1-2 laps around a race track at at least 3/4 speed. (and since they are g-force tires, of course, you have to have the air pressures set correctly to within 1/2 pound, and camber settings set correctly to within 0.01 degree, for them to work at well. but that's another rant...) anyway... i'll bet if you took a couple laps around a track, pulled into the hot pits, and tried the "break loose" test, you couldn't break those tires loose before you fried your clutch from dumping it at 6000 rpm trying to prove me wrong. avs intermediates, being street tires, have almost full traction when cold. therefore they'll do MUCH MUCH better on the "break loose" test when they are cold. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
