I don't think you want it b/c the darn thing melted all the plastic pieces around it. It is also shaved down to the metal. E-mail me if you think it might be worth it. I bought a TC Kline flywheel and a stock clutch. The car feels more responsive. The revs build up real quickly. It's still not optimal to really do things while the parts are still new. Most important, the idle is fine. No stumbles or hesitation. I do hear a whine when I'm on the gas. It's very slight. It can be anything though. So far I'm happy with the new setup. I'm still getting used to my car again. I've been driving a 325i w/o the goodies like POWER, BRAKES and a short shifter. Otherwise, the handling characteristics of the 325i is essentially the same. #3. Ungodly crackeling noise in '99 M3 coupe - from GSM M3

Date: Fri, 22 Dec 2000 14:36:17 -0000 From: "GSM M3" <carpediemm3@hotmail.com> Subject: Ungodly crackeling noise in '99 M3 coupe Good morning group, This morning's scenario: I fired up the car (outside temp displayed on OBC as 26 degrees F here in Chapel Hill, NC.), let it warm/idle up for about 3-5 minutes, then took off. I also turned on both front and rear defrosters during the warmup as well. From the moment I left the driveway, the car made a creaking/squeaking noise, like that of a thin sheet of foil being wrinkled lightly. I mean over each tiny little road imperfection, it filled the cabin w/ this noise; with no major give-away as to the exact location of the squeak either. I know it's not the cold leather rubbing together at the split rear seats, radio was off, and nothing has ever been removed/disconnected from the interior. It seemed to have slightly dissipated by the time I got to work, but still quite evident. Does the insulation in the car have any type of cellophane liner/wrapping to it, that would cause it stiffen up during the colder months? Many thanks, and a happy hliday to all. #7. Track seats for E36M3 - suggestions? - from vernon@sprynet.com

Date: Fri, 22 Dec 2000 14:32:46 -0500 From: vernon@sprynet.com Subject: Track seats for E36M3 - suggestions? Hello everyone, I'm going to install a pair of track seats in my 98 M3 next month so I can properly add a sub-belt, save some weight and lower the seating position a little. I'm considering the Cobra Suzuka, the Sparco Evo or the Sparco 2000. Another candidate is the Recaro SRD (although I think the SRD is more of a street seat than a track seat). 1. Has anyone had any experience with any of these seats? 2. Any others that I should seriously look at? 3. Any advice on mounting brackets and options there? 4. Any advice on mounting the sub-belt? I still use the car as a almost-daily driver, but I'm willing to put up with a track seat in return for safety and the other positives (in other words, I know any track seat will be far less than ideal for daily driving but I'm prepared and I'll deal with it). Any other advice would be welcome. I currently have a TCKline rollbar and Schroth Profi 4-point belts with a camlock to accept the sub belt. Take care everyone and happy holidays! It's cheaper than a normal shell and, more importantly, it still flips forward so you can get to the back seat. Racing shells block access to the back seat in a 2-door car. Ask me how I know. > 2. The shells are fine for every day use but you've got to get used to a couple of things. 1) close the door BEFORE you put the shoulder belts on :) 2) the radio may be too far away to reach with the belts on. 3) the glove compartment is out of the question 4) on long drives your butt can get numb because there's not enough room in the seat to shift around > 98 M3/2 on the slipperly slope to a full-track car... > Welcome to my world.
