Racing, located just outside Orlando in a cow field. It is a real life kart racing track. They have four-stroke enduro karts and two-stroke sprint karts. It is some great racing. The problem is, the new owner does not live in Florida, so you would have to coincide with his schedule. I think they will have races on January 13 & 14th, and February 10 & 11th. Feel free to contact the owner, his info is below. Let me know if you are going, I will probably be there. There might be some other quasi-amusement carting in Orlando, I don't know. Discard that LED ring, or if you wish first, you can test it to see if you just have a broken lead.. you might be able to fix it. But, if you've gotten this far disassembling it, you can go to Radio Shack and buy an LED and make your shifter light up the way God intended: ORANGE. I seem to recall BMW lights are 605 nanometers, from memory. From memory, Radio Shack orange LEDS are 613-620...close enough. There is a procedure on the http://www.mz3.net board on how to make a stainless steel BMW shifter light up. You can use this as a starting point. The actual article is at http://www.mz3.net/articles/015.html, it mumbles something about both an LED and a 470 ohm resistor. I think that would be Yellow, Violet, Brown, but don't hold me to that. I don't know what wattage resistor would be appropriate, but big enough to carry the current the LED pulls. Don't start a fire with a super big LED and too small a resistor, I defer to the real EE's here. - Skip "Rodriguez, Jorge ATD" wrote: > > Date: Fri, 22 Dec 2000 14:42:22 -0800 > From: "Rodriguez, Jorge ATD" <jorge.atd.rodriguez@intel.com> > Subject: Illuminated shift knob... no more :-( > > Hi all; > > My 98 M3 coupe no longer illuminates shift knob when I turn on the lights. > Briefly spoke to local dealer service rep. You see, I have an E30 M3, so I check the oil temp gauge a lot, usually as I unwind onto a straight. Under acceleration. Y'know what you see under the tach on the E36? A needle slamming to the right! It doesn't matter that it's hinged at the other end; it still gives me a fit every time. The same thing happened on my 99 and it was replaced (the whole knob) under warranty. I did notice, before I took it in, that if I twisted the old knob and/or pushed it back down, the connection would be made again, and the light would come on. -Chris > Date: Fri, 22 Dec 2000 14:42:22 -0800 > From: "Rodriguez, Jorge ATD" > <jorge.atd.rodriguez@intel.com> > Subject: Illuminated shift knob... no more :-( > > Hi all; > > My 98 M3 coupe no longer illuminates shift knob when > I turn on the lights. > Briefly spoke to local dealer service rep. #10. Track Seats for E36 M3 - Suggestions* - from Robert Biggs
Top
Date: Sat, 23 Dec 2000 00:15:47 -0500 From: "Robert Biggs" <parm3@home.com> Subject: Track Seats for E36 M3 - Suggestions* Vern -- I have the Recaro racing shells. The driver side seat is the SPG and the passenger side is the Pole Position. I use the car in driving schools and club racing (H stock). I am small enough in stature that I can squeeze into the SPG and, once there, you are a part of the car. A word of caution - you need a 20 year old smooth as silk cheerleaders a*% or vaseline to get in that seat. The Pole Position is larger and accomodates a wider range of, erh, bottoms. Even though my car is almost exclusively track dedicated, I believe the Recaros would be very nice on the street. A little trickier to get into, but once there quite comfortable. I also bought the TC Kline mounting brackets. They align nicely with the pedals, offer weight savings and adjustability for different drivers and ride height. The sub belt is bolted to the floor. The Recaros saved 50 lbs each in weight over my manually adjustable stock seats. I'm considering the Cobra Suzuka, the Sparco Evo or the Sparco 2000. Another candidate is the Recaro SRD (although I think the SRD is more of a street seat than a track seat). 1. Has anyone had any experience with any of these seats? 2. Any others that I should seriously look at? 3. Any advice on mounting brackets and options there? 4. Any advice on mounting the sub-belt?"
