P.S. one step to try before turing on the compressor is to make sure the recirc is OFF. recirc is just about the worst possible thing you can do, for lots of reasons. constantly wet, nasty, foggy slimy windows being only one of the reasons. it says in the manual "only use recirc for a short time". there's good reasons for it. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

#5. Supercharger help needed - from Paul Elliott

Date: Sat, 6 Jan 2001 09:10:20 -0500 From: "Paul Elliott" <pelliott@rcn.com> Subject: Supercharger help needed Rob, >>According to a Dinan MIPP that we plugged in the car has stock DME programming and ERT also tells us they don't modify the programming, but we are able to hit ~7000RPM before the rev limiter. I'm more familiar with my '95 M3 but I think the limiter on a 3.2L is ~6700RPM? Is it possible for this car to have some other type of program?<< With the external rising rate fuel pressure regulator, it does indeed point to an ERT implementation..However, as you correctly noted, on their OBDII setup, they do no dme programming. The fact that you hit 7K before cutoff does point to either an inaccurate tach, or, a reprogrammed dme...Do you think its possible that it IS an ERT setup, AND the owner misguidedly got his dme reprogrammed from another source? While it would seem pretty stupid, I suppose its possible... Also, besides the main guys: DINAN, RMS, and ERT, there are a couple of others...Like ESS. Could it be one of these ''off'' brands you have? Is there any way for you to track down the prior owner for confirmation of any of this? Good luck, and keep us apprised of the solution to the mystery! regards _____________________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3 <25000 mi Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger; Stygar Short Shift kit and Clutch Stop; Skaggs Pedals; X-brace; Sound by Kenwood Excelon, Polk, JL Audio

Is approval by the BOD a formality? The SCCA website is no help. In fact the classifications page shows CSP, where it was classed in 1999. Living in the Sunbelt (OK, it's 40F outside), our first Regional event is tomorrow, and I would like to know whether to report for the AM or PM session. Bob Dorchester Houston
