Your tech is willing to make a quick $400 over the weekend - no tax, no overhead, no questions asked - instead of having the job run through the dealership, from which he personally would make some fraction of that amount. Assuming he can do it as efficiently at home, he'll clear $40/hour. (There would also be some parts costs: gaskets etc.) Neil 96 M3

In the porsche, I used a ratcheting tie-down in addition to the seat belts. In the M3 even with the locking clips, the child seats still move a bit. Any help will be appreciated. Bora

The rear seat belts should ratchet secure. Pull the belt all the way out, then let it slowly retract - you'll hear it ratchet. No locking clips needed. That should do it. #6. Help - Winter Tires - NY - from Paul Elliott

These are "performance" winter tires, in that they are H speed rated, and handle decently in non-snow conditions.<< I also have the 210s...Theyre the Asymetricos, but theyre in the 225X45-17 size mounted on ASP Contour knockoffs from tirerack...Unlike you, Im in NY, not in Indiana...However, I find winter performance to be extraordinary....I havent found an SUV yet which has anything on me..Moreover, particularly in this size, I find their dry performance to be quite good, and I dont miss my Pilot Sports that much in the winter....I would suggest that the 17" option in this car might be the preferable way to go for all around winter performance. _____________________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3 <25000 mi Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger; Stygar Short Shift kit and Clutch Stop; Skaggs Pedals; X-brace; Sound by Kenwood Excelon, Polk, JL Audio

#7. 3.0L cams etc >> - from Jeremy Warfield

Date: Sun, 21 Jan 2001 17:21:25 -0800 (PST) From: Jeremy Warfield <cosmos95_swa@yahoo.com> Subject: 3.0L cams etc >> Just to clarify i little... My confusion was over the hp numbers that are always thrown around among manufacturers and retailers. There are little to no independant dyno tests of aftermarket parts, so it comes down to who has the better sales pitch, lol. I also wanted to get some opinions on what would be a fair install cost on the cams. It just seemed to me that 400 dollars in labor was a little on the cheap side to be honest. So is their anyone with cam install experiences, good and bad? I also need to decide what parts should be serviced on a 3.0L w/ 65k miles if i were to swap cams. I know there is a "soft" valve retainer issue, but what are the replacement options. Furthermore, what is a recommended mileage to swap out the springs (i am a little concerned about the higher lift cams on 65k mile valve springs)? Sorry for the rambling...just trying to plan some springtime mods while it is freezing on the east coast with snow on the ground, arrrrgh! jww- ===== JW- 1995 ///M3 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I am getting a Factory Flush of the brake system and was wondering a few things. I want to put in some high-temp brake fluid for track events and wanted to know what people thought about the ATE Blue Dot Racing fluid. I am purchasing other stuff from Turner Motorsport and that is the brand that they carry. Any other types that people are crazy for? Next question... How much fluid does the system hold? It seems to come in 1 liter containers. How many containers are necessary? Thanks for all your help, Jason ________________________________________ Get your email at http://www.prontomail.com

You can switch between the blue and yellow (?) so that you can see when the old stuff is completly purged. 1L is enough to do a full bleed. Most people buy 2L just in case. Most of the time you get to put that second liter on the shelf till the next time. Of course if you open the second one you need to dispose of it since it can't sit. -Matt --- Jason Sarich <sarich_m3@prontomail.com> wrote: > Date: Sun, 21 Jan 2001 17:31:28 -0800 > From: "Jason Sarich" <sarich_m3@prontomail.com> > Subject: Brake Fluid Amount?
