Graziano" <fgraziano@monmouth.com> Subject: Water Injection + Supercharger? i just got the Spearco water injection kit for my soon to be Open class rally car. Would this kit be as effective on my 95 S/C'ed M3 as say an Aftercooler? Would there be any benefit or is this strictly a Turbo thing? Thanks, Frank =20

I've got a 97 M3/4 with the original shocks and 43K miles, but it seems like the ride has deteriorated since I got it a couple of years ago.

One of the nuts holding the sunroof panel's brace was loose. The downside is that there is risk of damaging the sunroof headliner panel mechanism. If you want to try and fix it, do it at your own risk. I did, and broke the mechanism :( First, you'll need to separate the headliner panel from the sunroof panel. To do this, activate the sunroof as if you were going to open it, just so that the rear edge of the sunroof panel drops a little below the roofline (about 1/4"). Now using the palms of your hands, with a swift motion, push the headliner panel rear ward so that it separates from the sunroof panel. Note: DO NOT OPEN THE SUNROOF PANEL (RETRACTING IT INTO THE ROOF) WHEN THE HEADLINER PANEL IS IN THE REAR MOST POSITION. DOING SO WILL DAMAGE THE LINKAGE OF THE HEADLINER PANEL. Now that the headliner panel is slid back and out of the way, you'll see a black brace going across the sunroof panel. There are 3 nuts that attach this brace to the panel. Those nuts tend to get loose, and cause the brace to vibrate against the panel, causing the rattling noise. Snug them down to eliminate the rattle. Now grab the headliner panel and slide it forward, reattaching it to the sunroof panel. Tada, you're done. Nick > ok, my stupid sunroof rattle is driving me nuts. Anyone know how to fix > this? It feels as if the suspension has no travel. I've done the test that Sean recommends below, and the struts pass with flying colors (press up and down a few times, release, the car comes up and stays up; no oscillations). Now, everytime somebody sees my car, they ask what suspension mods I've done, as it looks lowered. Yet, the car is stock. I'm thinking that maybe the springs have sagged, causing the struts to ride on the bump stops. Heck, I rode in a friend's '99 M3 with H&R springs and Bilsteins, and it rode nicer than mine! I didn't even know E36s came with the glass roof. BTW, just got back from Germany where I saw no new E46M3s, but, I did see that in Deutschland, you can get an AWD 5-series (at least that's what the badge said...525xi, I believe) I did see the ultimate family Q-ship though. Get this: an AMG Mercedes E55 AWD Station Wagon...sweet. Also saw the 380hp Audi RS4 Avant....very nice. Oh, the cars we'll never see in the states...damn beaurocrats. My car feels like it's riding on a cloud on the freeway-- there's this airy bouncy feeling. In other words, it handles like crap. Yet, when I do the shock test, my shocks also pass with flying colors. I'm having my rear trailing arm bushings replaced next week since one of them is cracked. But can these bushings really make *that* much of a difference? What else should I look for? BTW, my car has 110K miles on the odometer. My 95 M3 had the lowered appearance with the stock suspension. It also made a noticeable scrunch sound going over bumps, etc. The noise came from up front. Turns out the front upper stock mounting points on the car were deformed. The 95 M3 had no reinforcement, the subsequent model years BMW added a circular plate. My shop pulled down the deformed area, welded the the reinforcing plates, and then all is well. So, you might want to check and see if there is some deformation. With my car it was obvious by observing the three bolts coming up through the mounting holes -- they were splayed out at different angles, rather than being parallel. - Rich
