Date: Tue, 27 Feb 2001 15:19:42 -0500 From: "Dorffer, Rich" <RDORFFER@CleIndians.com> Subject: track wheels I think you were taking pictures of your track wheels and you just don't know it yet. Buy a good set of wheels for the street and make these your track wheels (assuming there is still enough lip left to hold air) ;-) I do not believe I have ever seen a BMW wheel curbed that bad. This person must have been the worst parallel parker ever. He would make my fiancee look like a good parallel parker (just kidding Kristina....ouch, no need to hit). Or maybe he had poor vision and used the curb/wheels to determine where he was at when driving down the road. Or maybe this guy is a leading candidate for curb feelers. He should look into buying a Cadillac. Does JC Whitney have curb feelers. Maybe UUC can create some for our BMWs. Just think of the possibilities. Invest $50 in UUC curb feelers and save your $1,200 forged wheels - $3,000 Fikses. Thanks for sharing how bad wheels can really look. Regards, Rich

Date: Tue, 27 Feb 2001 12:26:11 -0800 From: "Sean Hester" <seanh_race@hotmail.com> Subject: damn computers!!!!!!!!!! i just discovered two reasons NOT to buy an S4. (which is drive by wire) and two things i'm gonna pay particular attention to when i test drive the new M3 (also drive by wire, right?) 1. no throttle off feathering. if you're floored, and lift off the gas pedal AT ALL (even 1/4 inch) all power is cut. as if you had lifted completly. apparently the computer figures that if you want to slow down, you want to slow down alot. imagine my grief as i'm flying around an offramp at the limit, start to develop a push, decide to lift ever so little to get the front tires to hook up, only to have all power cut as if i'd lifted all the way. GRUMBLE!!!!!!! is this computer trying to kill me? 2. no left foot braking, or heel and toeing (unless it's a really fast heel and toe). the computer in the car won't allow both the gas and brake to be on. almost like the electric go carts at crazy red head. the only difference is that you get about 1 seconds of leeway. if you're on the gas, and press the brake for over one second, all throttle is cut. imagine my grief as i'm flying around the next offramp, develop a push, remember that i can't lift or i'm in trouble, decide to use a bit of left foot braking, only to have all power cut as if i'd lifted all the way. GRUMBLE!!!!!!! is this computer trying to kill me? DAMN COMPUTERS!!! i want a throttle cable. i'm perfectly capable of deciding what amount of throttle i need thankyou. if the new M3 does this i'm gonna be pissed. does anyone know anything weather this is the case with the new M3? _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

#5. E36M3: Idiot light and OBC coolant warning - from GSM M3

Date: Tue, 27 Feb 2001 20:27:15 -0000 From: "GSM M3" <carpediemm3@hotmail.com> Subject: E36M3: Idiot light and OBC coolant warning Good afternoon group, This past weekend, I was in some of my favorite back roads, and was pushing the car rather hard; while coming out of a hard left-hander, the dash idiot light "check engine" came on, as did the OBC "check engine coolant level." When I returned home, I checked the coolant level, both hot and later cold, and it looked fine. It hasn't happened again since, but I do not want to take any chances. The car has just turned 22K miles, and has yet to be tracked. So to this I ask, what do you folks suggest I do? Is a trip to the dealer in order? Many thanks, Greg '99M3 _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

I agree it's ths OEM setup for the '95 M3, but... ....in 1997 the SCCA Comp Board issued a TSB (and subsequently changed the GCR) allowing all M3's in T2 to use 8" wheels as an alternate size front or rear. So '95 M3's have the option of 7.5" or 8" front and/or rear, and '96+ can wear 7.5" or 8" in the front and 8" or 8.5" in the rear. --BT

Date: Tue, 27 Feb 2001 16:58:32 -0500 From: "Dorffer, Rich" <RDORFFER@CleIndians.com> Subject: WTB 325is Just a small reminder, if anyone is aware of a 1989/1990 325is or 1991 325i Sport East of the Mississippi, I would be interested in it. Requirements are a 5 speed, less than 160,000 miles, no rust and in good shape with service records a plus. Yes, I have searched Auto Trader, Excite, Yahoo, Cars.com, TMS, Bimmer.org, Bimmer.net, etc. already so no need to waste time looking at those. I have found two in Raleigh NC and one in Greenville SC if anyone is dying to look at a car on my behalf. Be forewarned though, I have been less than successful in finding a good car and completing a long distance purchase (Thanks to the VA boys for looking at the last one). Best regards, Rich
