Date: Wed, 28 Feb 2001 15:31:13 EST From: Carguymb@aol.com Subject: RE: [E36M3] Intercom Solution The Nady intercoms are not the most reliable, but for in-car instruction they're (relatively) cheap and effective. There are a couple of weak spots in the headsets that can be more-or-less overcome with a little work. Essentially, there are stresspoints where the wires input the headset and the plug. With constant installation and removal, they're even more prone to failure. The solution is to provide a loop of unstressed wiring, by taping the wire to the boom of the mic, and to itself at the plug end. Add to this a dab of silicone where the wire inputs the headset, and they should last quite well. FWIW, I used different colours of tape, so I can make sure I always get "my" headset, and I removed the foam mouthpiece from the student's, to minimise the spread of germs. It might also be a good idea to remove the velcro from the back of the student headset, making it easier for them to pull in and out. I will have to agree with Jonathan on this one. Don't do suspension mods to the car until you have some more experience. It does make a difference in the feel of the car and the way you learn to drive. I had a student this weekend who learned a lot more with a stock car than my other one with a Dinan Stage 2 suspension. The stock student started to feel every mistake that he made and could tell me what he did wrong. The modified one had no clue about his car or his mistakes. Both cars were on street tires too. Street tires at a school do allow you to slide more than a R-compound will. This goes along with the suspension. You will quickly learn about those nervous twitches of the wheel will send you spinning. Now you just have to pray for rain to learn what it is all about ;) Seth Thomas www.m3ltw.com

As soon as you get a whiff of pines and red clay.... Sure does take you back. I have enough money, if I could get my wife to live there, I'd move back south and go fishing every damn day. And none of that bass boat, beer drinking crap. Just a cane pole, a creek bank and a speckled dog, the way God intended. Jim Seth Thomas wrote: > Hey our elementary school was the same way.
