#2. Conical airfilter help... - from Mark Radelow

Date: Fri, 02 Feb 2001 01:04:22 -0000 From: "Mark Radelow" <radelow@hotmail.com> Subject: Conical airfilter help... I am in the process of installing a conical filter into my 95 M3. Two questions; firstly, can I relocated the canister that sits below the MAF and if so, how. Secondly, there is a sensor that goes into the airbox (a brass fitting type). What do I do with that without the airbox? Thanks guys! Mark _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

I haven't tried the Hoosiers (they want too much -camber) but I very much like the Kumho's. They are sticky, durable and predictable. The only downside is that they're heavy compared to other tires. Remember that your on track to have fun and learn, not shave the last .001" off your lap time. Thereby keeping them (the women) in a state of mental slavery to their pimp. A dirty term and practice for a dirty business. I apologize. It's only been a few years since I came to my senses (at least about some things). Old habits are hard to break. It looks identical to the one that forms on the Kumho's. And you still drive it, eh? I haven't been so bold. I've been very disappointed with the Kunho's, since the ones without the groove wear as fast as Hoosiers, and mine developed chunking and cracking that I've not seen on other track tires. Also not as solid and predictable as original R1's or current day Hoosiers. YMMV. But they are cheaper. Dave Hogg

Only my opinion, and not having been there you can take this with a grain of salt, but I'd guess the following is happening based only on your description: You entered the turn a bit too hot and had to brake too hard and long. The car then didn't turn as much as you would have liked, you lifted and braked to rotate the car, then got back on the gas hard at the exit as the car finally came around. Was the turn a decreasing radius or something? I think you'd have been better off lifting earlier on the straight, not braking as long or hard, turning in while breathing off the brakes, getting on the gas to set the suspension, then getting on the gas harder at the exit as early as possible. Slow early enough before the turn to get the car rotated then accelerate as hard and as early as possible in one smooth transition. LFBing can help smooth all those transitions if you can master it. -- Ron Katona Bora Akyol wrote: > > Here is what I am doing: > > I am going through a 270-360 degree (cross-over) turn after a long straight > away.
