Looks like it is the subframe mounts. the two directly in front of the diff. are partially gone. I will call the local dealer tomorrow, and confirm it is covered under my 100k mile extended warranty. (unless you can't afford $500 a day i suppose ;-) i'd call it MORE foolish to do it without knowing. ;-P high performance driving is just a hobby, but it's an expensive one. in fact, the most expensive i know of. even more expensive then being a private pilot. i think people know that racing is expensive. but they think taking their street car to the track isn't as bad. if you take a couple driver schools, learn how to drive better, and go once or twice a year to keep your skills up, it's probably NOT very expensive. especially considering the benefit you get. but... if you start going 2-3 times a month, buying special parts (not just to go faster but because the stock parts are falling apart), etc, etc... you're really spending just as much as you would racing. in fact... you're probably spending MORE. 90% of the race cars i see on an SCCA weekend are cheaper then an e36 M3. cheaper to buy, to maintain, and to pay for if you wreck it. my race car costs $5000. tires cost $75. etc... _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

(i like instructing for them ;-) but some clubs (i won't name names) don't even let me get into the event for free when i instruct. it's all club based. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

#6. storing an M3 for a year... - from Charles Browne

Date: Mon, 05 Feb 2001 21:03:18 +0900 From: Charles Browne <browne@gol.com> Subject: storing an M3 for a year... Next month I'm off to Canada for a year's research leave from my university here in Japan. Unfortunately, I can't take my M3 with me (nor my wife's 318 Touring for that matter), due to import regulations. Looks like I'm going to have to put both cars into storage for a year. Looks like I'm going to have to store the cars outside (with covers of course), at a long term parking place - they've agreed to start up the cars once a month to keep the batteries charges/oil in the engine block. Is there anything else I can do/should be doing to protect the cars while I'm gone? Thanks! Charlie

#7. Source for cheap rotors? - from Steve Lilley

Date: Mon, 05 Feb 2001 08:43:19 -0500 From: Steve Lilley <m3steve@earthlink.net> Subject: Source for cheap rotors? Hi everyone, With track season rapidly approaching, where's the best place to find good, inexpensive rotors? I heard Brembo rotors mentioned in the recent threads on brake pads. I've been spending way to much on fancy rotors -- slotted and/or cross-drilled -- which invariably warp no matter how much I pay. I'm going to start considering rotors just another consumable item! :-) Regards, Steve m3steve@earthlink.net

So as long as Performance Radiator <http://www.performanceradiator.com> list a radiator for any other E36 series, then they have one for the E36 M3. The problem would appear to be in the web site's database rather than in their product offering. Neil 96 M3

#10. Getting ready to put in new suspension need input - from Bora Akyol

Date: Mon, 5 Feb 2001 08:31:40 -0800 From: "Bora Akyol" <akyol@akyol.org> Subject: Getting ready to put in new suspension need input Hi Guys & Gals, I am getting ready to spend dollars on a new suspension setup to replace the aging parts in my 95 M3. I want to confirm a few things: 1) Bilstein Sports: What's really up with these? I don't want to deal with a really rough setup as my car is my daily commuter, any ideas, help, etc? 2) H&R Coilovers: Are these more compliant or streetable than the Bilstein sport setup 3) Dinan Stage III: I am leaning against this right now simply because of good feedback that I got privately from several listers. I will probably get -1, or -2 degree camber plates instead of the -0.5 degree ones (jeez, why put them in) While I am doing the spring/shock/camber plate setup, what else should I replace. My car has an extended warranty till august so I am thinking to get the control arms etc replaced if I can at this time. Thanks Bora
