I'd imagine if you have people start your car once a month to just circulate oil and stuff without driving the car around to get the oil up to operating temp, you'd probably do more damage than good. About keeping the battery charged, you're better off taking the battery out of the car and either leaving it on a trickle charger or solar charger, no? In the grand scheme of things, the battery is on the inexpensive side and if you need to replace it after a year, it's not a real biggie. I'd just take it out if it starts to leak or corrode stuff. Just remember to same your radio code ;) Chester --- Charles Browne <browne@gol.com> wrote: > Next month I'm off to Canada for a year's research leave from my university > here in Japan. Polishing headlights Howdy folks, Don't know if this will be useful to anyone, but if anyone is _really_ picky about the finish on their headlights, you can wet-sand them before you use a chemical abrasive and polish. Not that I've got that much free time, but things like dirty windshields and hazy headlamps bug me. (Other than that, I'm relatively phobia-free ;) Wet sanding and chemical polishing tutorial can be found here: http://geocities.com/segascott/index.htm Best, Scott Yu > -------------------- 7 -------------------- > Date: Sun, 4 Feb 2001 19:55:19 -0800 > From: "Bora Akyol" <akyol@akyol.org> > Subject: Polishing headlights > > I polished my car's headlights today using only plastic glaze compounds from > Novus. I had the dealer look at the car today, and they could find nothing wrong with it. The vibration was non-existent during their test drive. It was suggested perhaps I had some snow/ice lodged inside the wheel... The mounts which looked broken to me, apparently are supposed to look that way! Now, I will just wait until it reshows. I still have the rattle, and have rechecked my JTD upper shock mounts. Everything seems to be fine. Wierd, and irritating. I've been chasing a bonking from the rear, and I really haven't checked the subframe mounts. How do I go about checking them? Can I just look at them and tell they're toast or do I have to pull some parts? Then, the obvious second question... how difficult are they to replace? do I have to drop the diff, axles, diff carrier, and driveshaft? or do I just have to drop the subframe down a bit? Thanks guys. -kit -------------------------------------------------------------------- Mail2Web - Check your email from the web at http://www.mail2web.com/ .
