#1. E46 M3 Delivery - from Robert Jackowitz

Date: Wed, 7 Feb 2001 14:38:49 -0500 From: Robert Jackowitz <RJackowitz@HARVPART.COM> Subject: E46 M3 Delivery This information comes second-hand. A colleague of mine (who drives very nice cars but fails to keep them for more than 6 months...tough life, right) just spoke with his contact at BMW of Manhattan, a NYC dealership which is owned by BMW AG. He was told that the new E46 M3 continues to suffer from serious head-gasket problems and has yet to pass BMW's durability testing. He was also told that initial delivery has now been moved back to mid-summer (June/July) and that the "masses" probably won't see delivery until September. I can't vouch for the accuracy of this info...just passing it along. Rob Wait-listed for new M3...still happy with current M3

You might try one of the high-end component vendors that cater to the homebuilders and modifiers, like Parts Connection. Obligatory BMW content -- If I had bought the high-end stereo of my dreams, I couldn't afford the M3. If you think you're into aftermarket parts and mods on cars, you should see what the hi-fi tweek crowd does. Regards, Bob '97 M3/4, and a dogs-breakfast stereo comprised of "one of these, one of those, and a couple of them-there" mostly used, used/modified, and/or home-brew components that, like a lot of our cars, tends to evolve over time. Current config sounds pretty good, actually. -----Original Message----- From: Andrew E. Some people like it real loud and some people don't. Personally, I never liked the stock tips and the ugly can that has it's coating peel off. I bought the AA exhaust that has the weird trapezoidal can. Once mounted, it tucks away very nicely (probably the best out of them all). It also sounded relatively tame when idling and tooling around town and screams when you give it a little juice. The gen I exhausts had a problem with the tip design. I had it repaired and all is well except that it's a bit off in terms of perfect alignment. Consequently, I'm selling it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=556893653&r=0&t=0&showTutorial=0&ed=982180405&indexURL=0&rd=1 HTH, Chester --- RONNIE WILSON <bigunit02@hotmail.com> wrote: > HI, DOES ANYONE ON THE LIST HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE PRO OR CON WITH THE UUC > EXHAUST OR THE TRIFLOW ? > > I'M THINKING ABOUT A NEW EXHAUST AND WAS SEEKING AN OUTSIDE OPINION. ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I'm convinced now that it's a good idea. And, as Sean H. so _kindly_ calculated, it only costs one track weekend... but which one?? (if i skip one track weekend i can afford coilovers) you're supposed to use that info to buy MORE stuff!!!!! (why am i agonizing about the price of these coilovers? i spend that much at the track every weekend, so this is a small expense in the big picture.) see how much more fun the second way it? of course... maybe that kinda thinking is why i don't have millions in the bank? ;-) _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

He said it's been done with an electric motor for power assist. I've got a hunch that it's not legal in J-Prepared but if it is, I'll do it. Like Dan says, the road feel is unbelievable. Has anyone heard of this before? (And you can skip all the er*m comments, please!)
