#3. Touchup your wheels? - from david tow

Date: Wed, 07 Feb 2001 17:06:38 -0800 From: "david tow" <david_tow@hotmail.com> Subject: Touchup your wheels? Hi, all, I am sure this question had been raised before, but I searched and could not find any solution for it. So please excuse me for asking this question again: I've got several small chips and nicks on my 95 M3's OEM wheels that I would like to touch up. The local BMW dealer claims that BMW does not carry wheel paint. Steve D'Gereolano commented in The Forum that he used Wurth silver wheel paint. Does this come in small touchup bottle I could buy from, say, my local Pep Boy? Does the paint match the wheel color exactly? Do you have a part number for it? Have some of you done the touchup work yourselves and were happy with the result? Any good tips? Since alloy won't rust, this is strictly cosmetic. Am I being fussy? Could the wheels turn out looking uglier after being touched up? __ __ David Tow / / / / | / | ______ 95 M3 coupe / / / / |/ | o/______\o Red/gray / / / / | (OO=00=OO) david_tow@hotmail.com / / / /__/|__/|__| []*=XX=*[] _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

On top of the notariety of being able to say you're insured by the same company as Wayne Gretsky, Henry Kissinger, Madonna, and a ton of other stars, Chubb has a different take on claims than other insurance companies. Rather than try to screw you out of your payment, they pay you large sums of cash immediately and then sic their team of vicious lawyers against any other party they think they can recoup from. If no one is out there to recoup their money from, they take it as a loss (hence the large premiums). I have a former co-worker whose wife wrapped her E320 wagon around a tree -- Chubb paid on the claim the next day, no questions asked. -peterg
