Date: Fri, 9 Feb 2001 17:32:00 -0800 From: "David Hogg" <springwood@blazenet.net> Subject: More exhaust... Scott, I've had both. The Borla was very entertaining, much louder than stock, and funky looking. What I remember about it most was that it would regularly set off car alarms in parking garages. It also had an awful "booming" sound in the cabin at (as I recall) 60-65 mph. I now have the AA. It is noticeably louder than stock and sounds mean and rumbly in the garage (only one alarm set off in 16 months), gives spectators an awesome staccatto sound on acceleration, and there's no booming in the cabin. I've also had the Dinan, which sounded low and mean at idle but a bit like a school bus underway. Assuming they all produce same-as-stock power, AA has hit the sporty tone dead-on for my ears. Dave Hogg Buddy with the lift got sick today so no monoball t.a.b. install yet...

Well its much better to get fooked by being stuck with the car all together? If the car won't sell..... You have to make a decision. Personally, if I couldn't sell a modified car, I'd make it an unmodified car. For instance. I had to sit and think about it when I decided to put the turbo on. Would anyone else want it. N O W A Y. I knew that I was shrinking my resell market by about 90%. Then I welded a rollbar in. There goes another 90% of my remaining market. In the next 30 days I'm going to pitch the stock seats out and weld in the front part of the cage, cutting holes in the dash in the process. Wanna guess how many people will want to buy my car then? I can count them on one hand. Now when I'm sick of the car, I'm not going to cry because the car has a retail value of about $5K. I'm a smart guy. I went to college. I even manage to feed myself without nursing assistance. Bottom line..... You run your car on the track, you modify it, you put an air freshner in it; you have decreased your market. You should either take your modifications out or get a clue. Anyone else NOT take Life 101? My point was that trading a car in to the dealer is not always a viable position. Some people outright can't afford to take the 20-40% hit you see between market value and trade in value. I fully agree that removing the mods is the best choice. I wouldn't touch a modded car simply because those mods indicate how the car was driven. My point was that trading a car in to the dealer is not always a viable position. Some people outright can't afford to take the 20-40% hit you see between market value and trade in value. Life 101...how about Finance 101. Donna, ... how's Guido these days??? Hmmm???? I've had my '95 M3 up for sale now for about 3 months. I knew going into it that it would be tough being winter tiem and all, but I had no idea!!! When I first posted my car, KBB et all had the car retailed out at $27,500, now the car is going for between 23,900 and 24,500 depending where you look.(VERY SAD!!!) KBB is generous at 25,000 right now. My car is incredibly clean, has a full documented history, 4k left on the CPO Warranty , with some extras (wheels/tires, etc...) and still there was very little interest. Luckily for me I just (2hrs ago) sold it to a guy locally for a little less than I really wanted to, but not too terrible........... Hang in there, I'm betting in another 30-45 days, the M3 market will come back a little bit.
