I think he charged me $13/ea. I just mentioned them 'cause I got their catalog recently, and ordered the LWT Baby Racer for Nikolas (the last one they had). (And I can't believe I forgot to mention SteveD'G at the Ultimate Garage - sorry Steve! - Definitely one of the best places to get BMW parts.) #4. Cold weather? - from Juan Rico

Date: Sun, 11 Feb 2001 09:59:16 -0800 From: Juan Rico <juan_rico@captionsinc.com> Subject: Cold weather? Hi everybody, I was hoping that some of you in the "colder" states might have an answer for this one. Now that the temperature has dropped here in LA to 40/45 F, (please, nobody laugh), my car has started doing something new. After leaving it parked for a couple of hours, when I start it, it shakes and stumbles horrendously when idling. This lasts only a couple of seconds, until I tap the gas two or three times, then it goes away completely. The weird thing about it it's that it is a fairly random thing. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn't for a couple of days. This has been going on for two weeks now... The reason I find this worrying is because in four years of ownership it has *never* done this before. Can somebody tell me what the hell is going on? Is it just the temperature affecting the engine or is my engine ready to blow up? Juan. (Setting some money aside for a new engine...)

Since I am getting new struts anyway (full assembly) as well as new springs, I figure this strut hat swap will give me an extra 0.5 degree of camber and save me $200 bucks on what Mr. Dinan charges for camber plates.< ***I just added the '96> hats to my '95 and I'm very happy. I got approx -2.5deg on one side and -2.75deg on the other on a car lowered ~1.75" with H&R coil-overs. Less understeer and outer edge tire wear and no pulling to one side even though the camber isn't perfectly equal side to side. Rob

#8. [E36 M3] Rough Idle - from Colin_S_Whelan@rrfc.raytheon.com

Date: Sun, 11 Feb 2001 14:00:35 -0500 From: Colin_S_Whelan@rrfc.raytheon.com Subject: [E36 M3] Rough Idle Hi Gruppe, I have a question regarding my recently purchased 1998 M3. The idle is very "slightly" rough, even when the car is warmed-up. It certainly isn't missing (or else the check engine light would come on), but it's not as smooth as my '93 325is idle either. I recently changed the spark plugs (after 28K) and they were very clean and the idle smoothed out a bit. I'm wondering if this is just characteristic of the M engine, since the car runs very well just off idle and strong (GTech measures ~ 5.5s to 60mph). Perhaps I'm just paranoid about idle quality after so many years of working on carbureted V-8s... Thanks! I'm looking for pictures of the left and right Motorsport front spoiler/splitter extension pieces. This isn't the really deep splitter that runs the whole width of the bumper cover, they are bolt-on pieces for the left and right only. Anyone have pics of them mounted on a car?. Are they effective or usless?. TIA, Rob

#10. Heated seats Instructions - from DrDan976@aol.com
Top
Date: Sun, 11 Feb 2001 15:04:04 EST From: DrDan976@aol.com Subject: Heated seats Instructions A while back ago, someone organized a GP for some heated seats. I just came across a set of Heated/Powered Black "Vader" style seats to replace the 328 sport seats that came in my 95 M3/lux. Does anyone have the instructions that came with their heated seat upgrade kit that they can email me or snail mail me? I know the instructions came in German, but I can get around that part. Any leads would be helpful. Thanks Daniel Wang
