#4. Help with a wet seatbelt!!! - from FAS302@aol.com
Top
Date: Sun, 11 Feb 2001 17:46:38 EST From: FAS302@aol.com Subject: Help with a wet seatbelt!!! With the winter weather here on the East coast, my car has developed a weird problem. After snowing or driving in torrential rain, water is getting into the car. But, what makes it so strange is I would never know it if I didn't wear my seat belt! I've pulled the back seat, felt to see if the carpet is wet, checked for a damp headliner, and found nothing. I thought possibly the striker was loose, but that wasn't it, either. Where the seat belt resides behind the paneling, water is getting in. I'll pull the belt to put it on and it will be wet. Checked the window seals and everything. What I did notice washing my rims the other day is there is a plastic plug in the wheel well. As soon as it warms up a little, I'm going to be undercoating the wheel wells to see if that does the trick. My questions are: Does anyone know what the potential problem is? Could the sunroof be the culprit? It doesn't leak in the car, so I don't think so. Is there rust forming back there, now? Any help would be appreciated, Evan

Juan, The same thing happened to me when I visited some friends in central CA (I'm in the SF Bay Area). My friend and I went for a drive (Hwy 49 near Auburn - highly recommended!) in the morning and my car was just absolutely pissed off at waking up...sluggish to turn over, like the battery was dying, finally started and the Check Coolant light came on, and just sounded terrible. Turned it off and started again and it was much better. Since then, I haven't had the same thing happen, and it's run flawlessly, so I'm just guessing that it's been trained to be a warm-weather car. -Chris > Date: Sun, 11 Feb 2001 09:59:16 -0800 > From: Juan Rico <juan_rico@captionsinc.com> > Subject: Cold weather? > > > Hi everybody, > > I was hoping that some of you in the "colder" states > might have an > answer for this one. > Now that the temperature has dropped here in LA to > 40/45 F, (please, > nobody laugh), > my car has started doing something new. If you guys were all talking about that little inlet for your hand on the underside of the trunk lid, then I can't believe that the thread was started. If the dealer would have used that as a feature for the car, I would have laughed hysterically at him and questioned his sanity... Rediculous! ________________________________________ Get your email at http://www.prontomail.com
