I have some doozies. Now when are you coming to Dallas to rewire my 4-way switch so I can move one of the 3-way switches? Lowell Seaton

I like the 4 spoke steering wheel too. The thumb rests put your hands at the correct position for performance driving. I never did the Mickey D cup holder trick though. My M3 has TWO (or is that four 1/2) cupholders. Lowell Seaton

Date: Wed, 14 Feb 2001 05:01:19 -0500 From: "Guillermo Molina" <drwillb@msn.com> Subject: RE: UUC tranny mounts/enforcer I've had these on my car, along with the UUC competition evo/erk shifter for almost a year now. Immediate reaction was: WOW. Long-term results: WOW!!!! IMHO, this is a very high bang for the buck upgrade. I think that the stiffer mounting does a great deal to prevent the dreaded 5-2 downshift and the shift gates are right where you expect them to be on hard acceleration. The only downside is a very slight increase in cabin noise from the tranny. The mounts/enforcers along with the shifter are by far the best upgrade I've done. The shifter is 1000% better than the stock version. It does what it's supposed to do very nicely and it's very reasonably priced. Usual disclaimer: I have no connection to UUC other than being a fan of their products. Their service has always been top notch and I don't hesitate in recommending UUC to anyone. Hell, most owners of the V1 do not even know or recognize there is an auto dimming feature!! I still think Sean wins the "Anal Award" since the BMW related illumination issues mentioned are more noticeable. Regards, Rich 95 M3 - Standard V1 PS - Proud to say I do not plan to win any "Anal Award". I am quite certain of my sexuality and I am a heterosexual thank you very much. Go ahead and comment JP. Please talk amongst yourselves.

All: I plan to attend GGC BMW CCA driving school at Sears Point mid March. Since its my first time there, and I gather it is rather technical track, it would be nice to see track from inside car before I go. I already downloaded NorCal SAAC Course map... contains detailed corner by corner analysis of their line. Download at http://www.norcal-saac.org/ot/otbook.htm. regards, jpr

#8. Work in Progress - from Wayne Miller

Date: Wed, 14 Feb 2001 13:34:06 -0500 From: "Wayne Miller" <m3@waynemiller.com> Subject: Work in Progress Yesterday, I started to second guess myself about putting in a 3.73 ring & pinion in with my 6 speed and I was worried about excessive RPM (more than stock) on the highway. I then put together a simple Excel spreadsheet that can calculate the speed in gears based on engine speed or the engine speed in each gear based on road speed. I have both the 5 speed and 6 speed along with 6 different ring & pinions for comparison. What I found was that even with the 3.73, I am better off than my stock setup before. If anyone wants me to E-mail them a copy of the spreadsheet, send me a private message. I just visited my car and the 5 speed is out and the new flywheel is in. It doesn't seem like all that big of a job to swap the transmissions. -Wayne '96? Ford Taurus rental until the M3 is done

I put a 3.38 in my car to replace the stock 3.15 and I really don't like what it did to the car. In Nevada, 100 mph is a way of life on the open road. My car sounds like a really nasty bumble bee turning such high revs in fifth gear. Maybe I'm just getting old.... My $.02, Rob PS. Anyone want to trade diffs? Mine has only about 4k miles on it now. I set-up my camera in John (forgot-his-last-name) and Jim Basset's M3's at a NASA event recently: http://www.guagenti.com/010204_Sears_Point/Jim-02_04_2001.mov http://www.guagenti.com/010204_Sears_Point/John-02_04_2001.mov Not great footage, but fun to see the whole track at speed. The files are more than 50MB a piece, so please don't distibute the URL beyond this list and if you plan to watch it over and over, save it to your desktop. It'll keep the bandwidth police off my case. -peterg ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using HiSpeed Technologies Webmail. http://www.hispeed.com
