I have a '95 M3 with the stock tire setup (Michelin MXX3 235/40ZR17 front and rear), and the 3.15 rear diff. It also has a Conforti chip, so the rev limiter now kicks in at 7000 RPM, and the top speed limiter has been removed. Just _suppose_ that I found a wide open stretch of deserted Interstate highway, and decided to find out what the top speed of the car was. As I _imagined_ watching the speedometer needle winding it's way around the dial, it would pass 150 and approach 160. Now, if the needle stopped at 160, but the car continued to accelerate until the rev limiter kicked in, how would I determine the actual top speed? Reset the MAX SPEED indicator at the point that the rev limiter kicked in? I do not know if the cold is playing a part in this but, my 95 M3 seems to be shifting rather difficultly. It is like it has a mind of its own. Sometimes it doesnt want to go in gear and other times it seems it engages differently in every gear. Any suggestions? The car is not a track car, and I do not drag race it either. I'm working on the remote too. The yellow LED looks orange through the filter. The green one does too, but considerably less bright. You could cut it, but it would look pretty fugly IMHO as it would leave a gaping hole. The engineer I spoke to at Valentine gave me this part number: Agilent HSMH-C650. Info on this series is here: http://www.newark.com/C118_modules/2635.html). Samsung 5LSNNUR201TM is their secondary part number (although the 2 may be a Z, can't read my own writing). I couldn't find data on the Samsung part. Newark sells small quantities of the Agilent LED. Agilent HSMx-C150 has the same dimensions, but is dimmer yet, so that's no good. If you find another surface-mount LED in a 3.2x1.6x1.1mm package with around 16mcd brightness, please let us know. andy r.

It's a bit tricky to do cleanly, but I now have green X-band and yellow K-band. Thanks for kick starting my brain, Sean. BTW the way to disassemble the remote display is to carefully pry off the faceplate. There are six small latches, three each top and bottom. andy r.

The engine and transmission are out of my car while collision damage is being repaired. The car has 45,000 miles on it with maybe 10 autocrosses and a BMWCCA driving school. I'm wondering if I should replace the clutch, throw-out bearing and so on while it's out or do these parts normally last long, say greater than 100k miles, enough that I don't need to worry about it now. It should be noted that since I now have a dedicated track car that this one will now lead a much more "sedate" life. TIA, Dave
