#2. Jackstand Adaptors - from Dorffer, Rich
Top
Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2001 11:37:29 -0500 From: "Dorffer, Rich" <RDORFFER@CleIndians.com> Subject: Jackstand Adaptors Folks, For a while, I was working on jack stand adaptors that would safely allow you to support an E36 using a conventional set of jack stands with my adaptors. I have two sets of prototypes and they work marvelously. I use them regularly. I came to find out that the manufacturing of these adaptors was going to be pretty expensive and I shelved the idea although a few people have persisted I still do something about it. Therefore, how much do you think you would be willing to pay for a proper set (four total) of 3 ton jack stands and machined adaptors to allow you to safely support your E36? $200 $250 $300 $350 $400 Bear in mind that four decent 3 ton jack stands will probably cost you $70 - $80 alone. The jack stands would be able to be used on all other cars and the adaptors would be high quality machined pieces and easily removed from the stands (a couple of seconds) when you needed to use the stands on another vehicle. Please feel free to respond on the digest or privately. Just curious whether this idea is still worth pursuing. Best regards, Rich

The classification change was automatically made and will be reflected in my March monthly bill. My son (yes I'm getting old) just turned 25 and the agent said that as soon as he files some form his monthly will reflect the over 25 rate effective on his birthday. Give your agent a hard time. I pay all mine on the monthly installment plan because it makes life easier and for $1 month I don't have to shell out the money for all the cars, house, etc. > I think it quite ridiculous to pay the higher rate for the 4 > months that > I'm already 25 > > Chester, ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? #7. Mini-compressors - from AVUSM3@aol.com

Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2001 12:16:25 EST From: AVUSM3@aol.com Subject: Mini-compressors Ron - I have a Campbell Hausfeld mini-compressor that I use at home and at the track to pump up tires. It measures 10" x 8" x 4" and weighs about 10 lbs. It has it's own lead-acid battery for power. The battery typically will do between 50-70 pressure adjustments on tires before it needs a recharge (which for me is every 4 months!). It comes with two attachments so you can recharge it at home (120V) or in the car (12V). I bought it at Walmart for $40. John Hi, does anyone knows a source of a small air compressor that I can keep in my car for emergency purposes ?

Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2001 09:41:36 -0800 From: "Bradley J. Otoupalik" <otoupalik@pobox.com> Subject: Big Brakes We looked at the Stop Tech kit at SEMA this year and last. I was equally as interested/disinterested both years. I was initially very interested as the price and look of these kits is great. However, upon further inspection, one can see that these kits are not of the quality of the Movit or Brembo kits available. As to their claims that they will out-brake the brembo and Movit kit with front and rears - they are high! There is no way that is possible! Chalk that one up to a silky smooth marketing MBA who thinks that the real enthusiast will believe it. :^) I also agree with Steve D. that attacking other companies is never a good marketing plan in my book! It really appears to me that they are content to attack the lower end of the market. The show crowd rather than the go (or stop in this case) crowd. Brad
