My dealer is charging like $680 for the inspection II while I can have a independent shop do it for $400. But my dealer said that if I don't do it at the dealership and I ever have any work done under warranty they have the right to refuse coverage. What are you opinion on this? Joe. The E36 is already way to heavy, and now the E46 is going to top that. My deposit money is staying in my pocket..... Searching for that lighweight feeling, right now I'm lusting after the Lotus M250 which *is* coming to this country. http://www.m250.co.uk/ (Exterior) http://www.cardesignnews.com/events/geneva2000/gallery/pages/lotus-m250-469.html (Interior) 250 hp and apparently less than 2300 lbs. The styling is still over top, but maybe by the time it goes into production it'll be a bit more sedate. Cheers, Peter Reinhart

The only time my car ever goes to the dealer is to fix something that is under warranty. Other than that, I do all of my maintenance work. I've never been denied any sort of warranty claim because they don't change my oil or blinker fluid during one of their inspection services. Rob 95 M3

BMW doesn't even have a procedure to flush the system.. only bleed it. Anyhow, I can't remember off the top of my head if the power steering pump has a drain bolt on it. However, if you haven't had your power steering hoses replaced yet, now is a good time and with those remove, most of the ATF will pour out. So say you bought the 2 hoses, clamps, 1qt ATF etc. and replaced them with the ATF drained. The front wheels must be off the ground, add ATF to the top, with engine off, turn steering wheel all the way to the right till it locks and do the same thing turning left till it locks 3x. Check and add ATF. Now with engine running, turn the steering wheel the same way till it locks. Check and add ATF if necessary. Clean up mess and test drive. Parts and tools you may need if you want to replace hoses: * P/S Intake Manifold hose to the pump * P/S cooler return line to the resivoir * 1qt of ATF DexronIII/Mercon * 2 or 4 crush washers * 2 or 3 clamps * 10mm socket * 22mm socket or wrench * Pair of dikes to remove factory clamps * Long funnel Any questions? Feel free to email me. Jon Caldito _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

A friend of mine has a 200hp supercharged miata, soon to be 250 turbo'd hp. It has a six-speed and Mazda Competition Limited Slip. Along with a host of other crap (Kevlar clutch, race suspension, etc. etc.). That car hauls ass, handles well, and was cheap to modify. On a poor note it is a rattle trap, doens't have great *feel* and when you drive it and on city streets you are at the edge of being dead at all times.... Way too small.
