Almost broke my landing gear. In 1960 I bought the first Sunbeam Alpine in the SF Bay Area. At the first service interval, back to the dealer. After picking up the car, I discovered the tech had spilled a large quantity of oil down the vent in front of the windshield. The next day my brakes locked up and overheated - adjusted too tight. The next day I almost lost a wheel -- lug nuts not tightened. The car had ran very rough for several days, and when I checked the carburetor balance (there were two Stromberg downdrafts) I found them way out of balance. Well, I must say I have been a bit cautious about dealer service ever since. I owned Lotuses for 30 years. No way would I have let a dealer touch those finicky cars! Anyway, I congratulate you for being a conscientious mechanic. I wish you worked near my home! Anybody out there with a coupe and an ashtray in the center console. Was this an option? Is there a way to retrofit an ash tray somewhere? Where would you fit it? 'cause they >just *SCHOOL* us at autocrosses. Its not even close. They make me feel >like I'm driving a UPS truck... what are you saying??!?! it doesn't matter if a miata can actually traverse a (not straight) section of road faster then an M3. the M3 can go 0-60 in under 6 seconds man! and it has 240 horses!!! (that was sarcasm by the way) i suppose different things matter to different people. at least half the times i leave a SIR track event (maybe 100 drivers) there's 300 drag racers lined up, waiting to get in. so i suppose the people who admire handling and driving dynamics are in the minority compared to the people who want to know how much like a rocket they can make an automobile. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

For a long time, the stubborn German engineers refused to put in cupholders since they believe both hands should be on the steering wheel when driving on the Autobahn. But what do you know, not only did they decided to put them in, but they did coffee-loving and chatty Americans a favor by designing a center console with cupholder and intergrated phone OVER the original useless ashtray! Maybe a cigarette flavored coffee will be Starbucks next flavor du jour, LOL.
