#3. update regarding batteries... - from Scott Yu
Top
Date: Fri, 2 Mar 2001 17:25:23 -0500 From: "Scott Yu" <scott@ditherdog.com> Subject: update regarding batteries... Well, I pulled the battery from my '97 M3 (with around 80K miles!) and it's part number is 61 21 8 353 651. I talked to the BMW Norwood Partsdude, and he says that the old battery part # is for E36 3-series incl. M cars. I asked them to look up the new battery I received today (p/n 61 21 8 381 738) and they said it's for E36 3-series incl. M cars, Z3, and Z3 coupes. So I guess it should work the same, if not better. And as mentioned before, it's got some neet lil' green "eye" lookin-thang peeking back at me. Also, the list price is $10 cheaper than the old '651, which listed at $125. CCA discounted price is $93 for the new one. Take care, y'all... scott

He gives a discount or freebies if you buy the whole front-end kit. Cutting it to shape yourself would be a daunting task. dw Where does one get this tape? Are you talking about those die-cut set$ from the catalog$? Or can we just buy the stuff in raw stock somewhere? -- Scott

Are you talking about those die-cut sets from the catalogs? Or can we just buy the stuff in raw stock somewhere? I would actually refer to it as film as opposed to tape. You can buy the pre-cut material from the following places (among many others). http://www.xpel.com/ http://www.clearmask.com/ http://www.stongard.com/sgcontent/default.asp And learn all about it here: http://www.3m.com/US/ I have purchased from Xpel before and was satisfied with their kits which also includes the tools and an installation video. They also sell the material in bulk by the foot. If I can help with any other specific questions, please feel free to email me directly. Best regards, Rich

The places I've heard mentioned on this list providing some sort of discount are BMW Cincinatti (800.543.1649), South BMW FL (www.southbmw.com), and Hendrick BMW Charlotte (www.hendrickbmw.com)... any others? I'm pretty sure you can get uncut sheets, but I don't know from where. --- joe > Date: Fri, 02 Mar 2001 13:53:48 -0800 > From: Scott Chan <scottch@juniper.net> > Subject: Re: 3M paint protection > > > Where does one get this tape?
