#1. Dinan Superchargers - from Gerry Miranda

Date: Sat, 3 Mar 2001 08:50:42 -0800 (PST) From: Gerry Miranda <gerry_miranda@yahoo.com> Subject: Dinan Superchargers Here is a question: I'm would liek to have a supercharger installed on my car. I have looked at ERT and did not like the fact that all they do for a 97 M3 fueling requirements is a Fuel Pressure regulator. So Im thinking Dinan. I was told that the Dinan supercharger is a dog without the proper exhaust and I should get one. The Dinan exhaust is $1000. I already have a Supersprint exhaust. Does any one have any impressions in Dinan supercharged cars with No exhaust Dinan exhaust or Supersprint exhaust I'm thinking of Dinan mainly because I have 2 Dinan authorized dealers so very close to me. #2. battery part #s? also, dent wizard kicks butt. - from Justin Gerry

Date: Sat, 3 Mar 2001 12:03:30 -0500 From: "Justin Gerry" <jgerry@butchers.com> Subject: battery part #s? also, dent wizard kicks butt. The only batteries that I knew of that had that nifty little "Green Eye" are made by AC Delco. I have had a few of those in my '02. My guess (might be a bit of stretch) is that it is a relabled AC Delco battery. I wonder if BMW's U.S. supplier connections have anything to do with this (Z3/X5 with mostly U.S. made parts in good old S.C.)?? -Justin -- '76 02 (Whimsical) '97 M3 (Orion) BMWCCA# 77056 check out the updated page at: http://users.vei.net/jgerry

I think that's fantastic.....Multiply by 1.21 for your 18% drivetrain loss, and you show approx 280 hp at the crank!! Cmon, for a normally aspirated M3, I dont know how you can hardly expect more. _____________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3 <25000 mi Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger; Stygar Short Shift kit and Clutch Stop; Skaggs Pedals; X-brace; Sound by Kenwood Excelon, Polk, JL Audio

No, I had NOT considered my dealer. And, its an excellent place to consider....after all, we certainly know that they have the equipment, and the know how, to change the tires, and to do so without mangling the rims. Considering how hard it is to find someone to do it well, perhaps the premium they no doubt will charge to do the job isnt that out of whack. If they're one of a handful who can do it and do it right, I think theyre probably justified in charging what they will...Supply and demand, and all that. God knows what they'd charge for the Pilot sports, but, I do know they did sell the package of the contour knock offs with winter Pirelli 210 asymetricos for a price within $200 of what Discount Tire Direct charges. Thanks a bunch for the suggestion....Youve just eased my mind...Now, I can concentrate full bore on the coming Blizzard!! _____________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3 <25000 mi Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger; Stygar Short Shift kit and Clutch Stop; Skaggs Pedals; X-brace; Sound by Kenwood Excelon, Polk, JL Audio

Date: Sat, 03 Mar 2001 09:24:52 -0800 From: Bora Akyol <akyol@akyol.org> Subject: Ride Height with Dinan Stage III I measured the ride height as described in Bentley manual from the lower lip of the wheel to the fender lip on top and arrived at 23.5 inches front and 21.5 inches in the back. -- ------ Fender ^ | | ++++ Top of the rim | Height | | \/ -- ++++ Bottom of the rim I figure the ride height increase is due to the camber plates. Anyone else with Dinan Stage III that can compare ride heights. I can clearly see that my front wheels show more gap than they did before. This is a pure visual thing, I can't tell any ill handling effects. Thanks Bora

I have a Douglas battery I bought at their headquarters in Winston-Salem, NC. It has a green eye. In fact, they were returns from the BMW Greer, SC plant (aka Spartanburg)... too tall for the Z3's they were building. You should know that the green eye only gives an indication of "good electrolyte", not a indication of a good charge, nor even a good chargable battery, according to reps at Douglas.
