Since TC doesn't want my business, I guess I'll buy my coilovers from Ground Control since they don't cater to hard-core racers and TC does. Perhaps he should stop advertising StreetLine, TrackLine and OEM replacement suspension since he really doesn't want this type of customer - mere driver school attendees and all. Dan, I'm sure TC appreciates you convincing us not to bother him by wanting to buy his products and spending only three figures. I hope what you say isn't true, somehow I don't think it is. Just curious, if you don't answer the phone, how do you know how much someones gonna spend...hmm? AJ --------- Anyway, when dealing with a true race shop (PTG doesn't seem to answer the phone for less than $20k), remember that most of us may not be a customer they want, and therefore, customer service may be poor. But that doesn't mean that they don't give great service to their core customers. Dan My flame suit is on (actually 3 layer Nomex, SA rated helmet and Turner-installed fire system)

In reading the BMW manual they continually mention the emission system but no mention of the exhaust system. So today I will be talking with "Easy Care" the warranty company.\ bob weber bobweber@bellsouth.net From: "Noam Reuveni" <brain@lycos.com> Subject: catalytic converter followup I believe that cats are federally mandated to be warranted to 100,000 miles as the are most definatly emissions control equipment. I'll check with the guy at my shop who is certified for emissions and I will get back to you with the exact legal wording. The cat may even be covered by the original manufacturers warranty (again, I have to check on the limits) I'll be in touch tommorrow with, more helpful advice. -Noam Reuveni

Either BMW (like you have on the back) or Fikse rims will fit without spacers. Put 245/40 Michelin Pilot Sports or Bridgestone S-02 Pole Positions on them and you'll be happy. Just my opinion. No warranty, etc. Dave Hogg

#5. FS: Koni DA's - from Rex Tener

Date: Wed, 07 Mar 2001 04:14:13 -0800 From: Rex Tener <rex_tener@yahoo.com> Subject: FS: Koni DA's I have a set of Koni Double Adjustables for an E36 M3 for sale. My M3 has been retired from the national autox scene and it is time for my Koni DA's to go to a good home. These were custom built by ProParts West in May of 2000 and have approximately 10K street miles and 15 autocrosses on them. After a series of tests last summer, I had ProParts West revalve the fronts to soften the compression setting at the low end of the adjustment range. The front struts are hydraulic (no gas) and lower the front of the car approximately a 1/4" over stock. The rears are low pressure gas and their is no ride height change. I run them on the street with zero clicks compression and two clicks rebound (1/2 turn counter clockwise) and the ride is almost as soft as a stock M3. My fiance' thinks they are softer than her stock M3, but I think it is about the same. For autox I run it with 10 clicks compression front and 5 clicks compression rear with 6 clicks rebound (1-1/2 turns counter clockwise) and the car is amazing. It was the fastest M3 in A-Stock at last years SCCA Solo II National Championships. The shocks are in excellent condition except for some minor cosmetic issues with the left rear shock that does not affect performance. The left rear lower shock bolt fell out on the way home from nationals which caused the shock to hit the ground and it broke the shock shaft at the top rear shock mount. ProParts West replaced the shock shaft and rebuilt the shock with all new seals, fluid, and gas and gave it a clean bill of health. The bottom shock eyelet is a little oval and the integral bushing retainer is gone, but I will include the washer that I have used as a substitute. These shocks new are approximately $2400. I want $1500 for them and preference will be given to those that have bought from me before, SF Bay Area buyers, and time of response, in that order. Cash or PayPal only. I can take some digital photos of them tonight if anyone wants them. -- Rex Tener rex_tener@yahoo.com 1995 BMW M3, SCCA SFR Solo II A-Stock #173 _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? #8. Looking for a salvage E46 headlamp... - from scott

Date: Wed, 7 Mar 2001 09:45:24 -0500 From: "scott " <scott@ditherdog.com> Subject: Looking for a salvage E46 headlamp... Okay, I know this is a long shot, but... I want to find an E46 headlamp that's been partially damaged. Reason is - I want the projector lens element inside of it. I've installed HIDs on my stock headlamps, and even though I dremeled into the headlamp so that the focal point of the bulb is exactly where the 9006 bulb was, I think that the stock lowbeam diffuser lens sends way too much light up to the heavens and into oncoming traffic. I saw a post on bimmer.org by a fellow who actually paid $1000 for a new set of E46 projector headlamps, cut the projector lenses out of them, and bonded them to his E36 headlamps. Being of a cheap mind (being a cheapass?), I'm not willing to pay $1000 for the lenses, I'm not even willing to pay $360 for euro ellipsoids. I'd like to find salvage E46 projector-equipped headlamps (ya know, outer body trashed, etc) so I can pull the lenses out. Does anyone know where I might get a lead on such a thing? I have to wonder - if a yard gets an E46 that's been in a frontal collision and the headlamp is cracked, I'm sure that they pull the xenon bulbs and ballasts to sell. But what do they do with the headlamp assembly? I'm going to be calling some more salvage yards, but the first few I talked to had no idea what I was talking about. Anyway, as the crazy idea above is a long shot, I'd also like to ask - does anyone have used euro ellipsoids that they're willing to sell for a fair price? best, scott yu boston, ma
