Jeff, maybe you got some kind of special service deal from the dealer on your used 96? I bought my '96 new in 6/96, and no maintenance was included. BMW started including this on new cars with the 97 model year. Meanwhile, don't point that out to your dealer! Neil 96 M3

The VW and Legacy vehicles shown in the pics are running special-purpose studded snow/ice tires. Having gone for a ride in one of those vehicles, all I can say is *unreal* ... http://www.execpc.com/~sdg2/ramb_jan2001_car_control.htm Enjoy ;-) GMK '97 M3/4

The tensioner is only available as the complete assembly including the belt latch receptacle. Different version have been used, so you should get the part number off the one on your car. Or, sent me the last 7 characters of your VIN and I can look it up for you. Neil 96 M3

M3 owners seem to be every bit as cool as the cars are. :) the car will get new oil for the diff, engine and tranny, check for a plastic impeller (replace if necessary), fix power steering leaks (already knew about them), replace all belts, replace fuel and air filters, and flush coolant and brake lines. i decided to not go with a full level I inspection; paying the dealership to make sure the tires have air and that the hazard lights work seemed a little silly. the dealership said they'd cut the labor in half if i brought them beer; i don't think dealerships are so bad after all. Hi all, I went to the local BMWCCA car clinic this last weekend and discovered that my rear tires are slicks. I guess I can't hold out until the PP S03s come out so I am going to order a set of Bridgestone PP-S02s from TireRack. Anyone know of a place locally (San Jose/Santa Clara) that does good balancing and will accept a shipment from TireRack? Thanks, Eric

#9. UUC Sway Bar Settings - from Steve Sun

My question is to all of you that have these bars. What settings F/R did you guys use? I'm a fairly competent driver and have been to several driving schools (CCA and others). Are the suggested initial settings (F: full stiff, R: full soft) good enough to reduce understeer? What are some of your recommendations? Thanks in advance, Steve 99 M3

Date: Wed, 7 Mar 2001 19:47:10 -0800 From: Roman <roman@arteuro.com> Subject: [E36M3] Re: Recently purchased '96 M3 Jesse, I bought a 96 M3 about 6 months ago. Awesome car!!! Afer a month of ownership, I took the car to my mechanic and asked him to change all the fluids (engine oil, tranny, diff oil). For the tranny and diff I asked him to put Redline oil and a semi-synthetic for the engine. The other thing I had changed were spark plugs. Even though the ones that came with the car were still fairly good, I had new ones put in (one can also get an idea of how the engine is working by looking at the plugs). That was it!!! This baby is running like a dream. I would also ask the mechanic to look at all the rubber parts under the car. It is difficult to keep the car stock cause there are tones of things that you can add on to improve performance. I made a promise to keep it stock...HAH!!! That promise went with the wind. X-brace is on order and next month I'm planning on Sharking. Hope you get years and years of fun out of your M3!!! Cheers, Roman S. 96 ///M3
