#1. Borla Exhaust/Great customer/Idiot service - from Bill Lackey

Date: Fri, 09 Mar 2001 18:04:47 -0800 From: "Bill Lackey" <btlackey@hotmail.com> Subject: Borla Exhaust/Great customer/Idiot service I just swapped out my B&B exhaust for a Borla from Turner Motorsports. The Borla is soooo much quieter. With the windows up the tire noise is louder than the exhaust. Much better. People knew your were coming 5 blocks away with the B&B, although it passed sound at Laguna Seca, go figure. Now for the story... I ordered the exhaust from Turner, my parts house of choice. When I went to install it, it didn't fit! The exhaust hit the brace for the differential. It wasn't even close. Next day called Turner. They got Borla involved and Borla sent me another one next day. Hmm, it looks just like the first one. That's when I noticed the mounts didn't quite line up where the exhaust met the midpipe. As soon as I moved the spacer back, presto. Exhaust fits. Both of them, as a matter of fact... Now I'm feeling pretty stupid. But I wanted to let every one know how well Turner and Borla handled the situation. Doug and Will at Turner were all set to send me something else next day, as was Steve at Borla. Doug even called me just to make sure Borla has sent it. All this when they are getting their cars ready for Speedvision Cup. Looks like I have some shipping charges to pay and some crow to eat. Actually, I bet if you could con dinan into giving you a sticker, that any intake would pass. :) most mechanics only look for the CARB sticker and don't reference it. My dinan intake gave me 12 horsepower at the rear wheels, no software... :) -kit

The only one I've heard that has a CARB EO number is the Dinan. Anything that is considered even remotely connected to an engine's emission system here in CA needs that blessed CARB EO number. Even if a part doesn't increase emissions at the tailpipe. If they spot any item that doesn't have the EO it will fail on the visual. Stupid? Yes. Money maker for them? Yes. -- Roger Baker Matt Henson <hensonator@yahoo.com> wrote: > So all those Conforti/ECIS CAIS systems aren't CA > legal?
