If you slap the wheels on, drop the jack and then torque them while the weight of the car is resting on them, they may not seat straight. Better to torque them while up in the air (as best you can if you don't have an impact gun). Then final torque them by hand after lowering the jack in a star pattern. Another possibility is pad material accumulating on the disc.

#4. O2 sensor affect idle? - from Rob

Date: Thu, 15 Mar 2001 19:45:11 -0700 From: "Rob" <motor@cadvision.com> Subject: O2 sensor affect idle? How much does O2 sensor affect the idle quality on a '95 M3. My car has a terribly rough idle that I can't seem to diagnose and one of the last things on my list is the O2 sensor. The car has ~38k miles and no Check-engine light. TIA, Rob

Yes, the O2 sensor can affect idle quality. Try this as a test: 1) disconnect the O2 sensor from the car's wiring harness 2) disconnect the car's battery for a few minutes to clear the DME's memory and adaption values 3) restart the car and go for a test drive At this point, the Check Engine light will be on constantly (since the DME isn't getting an O2 reading). You'll be driving using the base calibration in the chip with no learning. If the car drives better and the idle is smoother, then chances are your O2 sensor was on its way out. Just reconnect the O2 sensor (with the key/engine off) and the Check Engine light will shut off. Nick '95 M3 turbo

Saving $200 to have your warranty voided (you also need records you have maintained your car) would not be worth it. Not worth it to me anyway. #8. Suspension Parts - BMW Part Numbers - from Peter Guagenti

Date: Thu, 15 Mar 2001 20:24:29 -0800 From: Peter Guagenti <peter@guagenti.com> Subject: Suspension Parts - BMW Part Numbers Fellow Listers, I have a favor to ask of you lucky owners of the Parts CD -- I need the part numbers for some suspension parts and I was hoping someone could look them up. I'm converting my wife's 328i to M3 parts. I've got springs, sways, rear sway bar links, and bushings. I want to replace all of the old suspension bits (including bolts), so I need part numbers for: - Front strut tower mounts (from a '97-up so I can swap them) - Front bumps stops - Associated hardware to fully assemble the strut - Strut Mounting bolts (lower) - Front sway bar links - Rear Bump Stops/Dust covers - Rear Shock mounting bolts (lower) Part numbers from any other associated parts you see in the diagrams would be appreciated. Thanks, -peterg

Let's say you fudge the numbers to save a couple of bucks...1 month after purchasing the warranty your engine fails...lots of red flags when they notice that the car you drove 29K miles in 4 years suddenly has an extra 20K miles in 30 days. Fudging facts is like a boat on water. The boat can float, but it can also sink. - Chip > Date: Thu, 15 Mar 2001 15:58:00 -0500 > From: lee.leslie@firstunion.com > Subject: Ext Warr > > Food for thought.. if anyone buys warranty direct > you might note that they > will not ever see your car.. & will have no way to > know how many miles you > have on it... if you had say 49.5K on it & they > quoted you $1800, you might > try the little calculator again with a typo.. say > 29.5K.. your price will > drop by about $200...
