#1. Fwd: AutoServiceContracts.com - from Chip E.

Date: Thu, 15 Mar 2001 20:44:20 -0800 (PST) From: "Chip E." <chip4bmw@yahoo.com> Subject: Fwd: AutoServiceContracts.com I asked AutoServiceContracts.com to throw together an e-mail pitch for the digest. Note, I did not expose the name of the forum. Also note that they offered me a check in the amount of $50 for each person I send their way. I told them I would rather not take advantage of the group in that way. I hope EVERYONE here would do the same. So they said they'd pass the discount on to the group instead. Anyway, they're not the cheapest and I'm only 90% sold at this point. I think they have outstanding customer service and feel that it will continue after the sale. I'll let you guys know what I ultimately decide. - Chip --- Dan Brandon <dan@heritagewarranty.com> wrote: > From: Dan Brandon <dan@heritagewarranty.com> > To: "'chip4bmw@yahoo.com'" <chip4bmw@yahoo.com> > Subject: AutoServiceContracts.com > Date: Thu, 15 Mar 2001 17:08:40 -0600 > > Heritage Warranty Insurance is located in Lincoln, > NE. My idle was never all that smooth. When it eventually did die the idle became really smooth once I replaced it. My mechanic said that O2 sensor can be in poor condition and cause problems (as mine did) without tripping the check engine light. I would replace it and see if it solves the problem... How much does O2 sensor affect the idle quality on a '95 M3. My car has a terribly rough idle that I can't seem to diagnose and one of the last things on my list is the O2 sensor. The car has ~38k miles and no Check-engine light. #5. [E36] M3 Brake Pads - from Colin_S_Whelan@rrfc.raytheon.com

Date: Fri, 16 Mar 2001 07:15:50 -0500 From: Colin_S_Whelan@rrfc.raytheon.com Subject: [E36] M3 Brake Pads Group, I was going to change my brake pads this weekend and upgrade to Euro aluminum-hat rotors since the pedal is getting a bit low (and I just bled the brakes). My driving is 95% on the street and 5% at monthly autocrosses, so I was wondering if Metal Masters were a good upgrade. I heard that they're relatively dust free, provide better braking than stock pads and don't squeal. (I don't want to go with PF90s since they tend rattle.) What do you think? Right now, the only place I can find Euro rotors is BMP for $300 a set. Thanks! Colin '98 M3 (JC, X, ITG)

#7. Too paint or not to paint? - from Richard Sperry

Date: Fri, 16 Mar 2001 08:19:39 -0500 From: "Richard Sperry" <richardsperry@home.com> Subject: Too paint or not to paint? My 95 ///M3 was introduced to a speed limit sign at 2 mph during a recent snowstorm. The damage looks to be confined to the air dam,(ripped off the car from the left, cracked in the middle), fog light brackets,( lights wont stay in), bumper trim, and a small scrape and dent to the front cowl, and left front fender, just above where the fender meets the air dam. It's amazing how much damage can occur in slow motion...Since I have to have a new air dam, and associated trim, and the little scrape / dent has to be repainted. The question is, tada! Should I get the stone chips on the hood taken care of at the same time? All estimates have said that the hood would be stripped, , all front end trim,( lights, grills, badges, etc.) removed, then repainted. I figure why not, they have to paint anyway. What do you all think? Rich
