It's part of the map lights in the roof. Anyway I can get this stupid little light on my e36? Maybe I'm getting too obsessed. jay '95 m3/2 _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

Awesome ;-)) Lots of good e36M3 stuff inside. The BMW Store in Cincnnati was selling it for $72.00 (I think?), plus 20% off that as a CCA member. Date: Fri, 16 Mar 2001 14:27:49 -0500 From: lee.leslie@firstunion.com Subject: Ext.. Warr. Ok Ok I get it.. I just wanted to throw it out to the group & let everyone decide their own financial ethics.. FWIW this is not an issue for me, my car is rapidly running out of warr in months, not miles.. my car has averaged only about 9K per year.. (mostly b/c the thing is always at the dealer getting something fixed that they broke the last time it was there.. kinda an endless cycle) I just found it comical that when the guy was selling me on the deal he told me to make sure I got it before 36K or the price would go way up.. that's when I started playing with the numbers & found that they price in $50, 5K mile increments.. Seems to me I would reverse that pricing scheme as the lower mile cars are likely to be under their warranty longer & for more miles than the higher mile cars.. but this is an insurance policy & they are banking on us selling or totaling the cars rather than actually driving them..

I'm thinking about using the part(s) of the assembly from the 5-series. I've tried giving vague descriptions to dealers (I have to make a trip to the dealer and actually point it out sometime), but had - for the most part - little success. I contacted Hendrick BMW, and they gave me this part number: 63312269512. I'm not quite sure if this is what we're looking for (plastic piece with 2 little pinholes in it, and needed light(s)). Anyone w/ a parts CD want to confirm this? I assume that aside from some fabrication/cutting, it should be a pretty simple job. --- joe ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jay Miller" <jjmiller6@hotmail.com> To: "E36M3" <e36m3@bmw-m.net> Sent: Friday, March 16, 2001 1:47 PM Subject: [E36M3] Little orange light > Date: Fri, 16 Mar 2001 11:45:40 -0800 > From: "Jay Miller" <jjmiller6@hotmail.com> > Subject: Little orange light > > I took a spin in a buddy's e46 and there's this small orange light, on the > interior roof, which shines down on the stick. Is it street legal >(smog test)? How involved is the installation (mature garage work)? Is it >available for the OBD II 3.2l? > >Any addition information would be interesting. > >Thanks, > >Peter Fanning >'98 M3/4 The package consists of our Shark intake full Euro System with Euro HFM & HFM adapter, 24lb fuel injectors, Shrick camshafts 264 duration 11.2 lift intake & 256 duration 11.2 lift exhaust, and a matched Conforti chip. Additionally one can add a full header/exhaust system. This system is not street legal in the state of CA. In other states where the package could be considered street legal their shouldn't be much problem passing a smog check. Either way all Conforti chips/products are sold for off road use only. Idle characteristics remain virtually identical to stock. The kit doesn't require any special valve springs or lifters and can be installed by any shop who has the proper special BMW tools to properly replace cams in an M50/S50 vanos motor. Don't cut any corners on the cam installation and vanos setup it just isn't worth the headache. The kit is currently available for 95 3.0L M3's. At the moment there isn't a kit for the OBDII cars. If you want top of the line you obviously go with Cisco or Lucent, but if you are wanting to get 11mbps performance up to 1000' then the choice is obvious with a price tag under $400.00 go SMC. I hope this helps you out in your wireless adventure. =20 William Horlacher Network Administrator Phone 336.931.0020 <http://www.GermanCarrParts.com> www.GermanCarrParts.com <mailto:Horlacher@Germancarrparts.com> Horlacher@Germancarrparts.com

It seems like this 802.11/802.11b stuff is the way to go with various recommendations on vendors. Those things I can sort out. But one last question. My laptop doesn't have a built in LAN connection. I use PCMCIA slots for this. For LAN and modem access I have a Xircom RealPort Ethernet 10/110+56K modem built into a 2 slot high package. Since these units all seem to want to use PCMCIA and both my slots are filled, what are my options? Jim I feel a shopping trip coming on.

#9. Thermal images, emissivity, euro motor. - from Jonathan Evans

Date: Fri, 16 Mar 2001 15:40:10 -0500 From: "Jonathan Evans" <jonathanevans@hotmail.com> Subject: Thermal images, emissivity, euro motor. ---snip--- On another note. I saw the infrared pictures that Jonathan Evans posted and was wondering if they might look different with a Euro motor than the US motor. The Euro does not have all the plastic parts the US has and I believe runs a little bit hotter. What do you guys think? ---snip--- One thing to keep in mind that highly polished materials, such as chrome, aluminum, glass, are reflective in the infra red world. So, you'll notice that in one of my pictures the oil filter, uh, cap thingy has reflected the heat signature of the surrounding. So you'd want to make sure the materials were similar between the motors before doing measurements. Basically get a baseline at the same known temp. I'm still waiting for a free cold air induction from someone in exchange for a few pictures... :) I guess that some companies wouldn't be real keen on seeing the truth! Jonathan 95 m3 red
