There was a significant break in price if you had 2 or more rebuilt. Anyone have that info? If I remember correctly when mine were rebuilt it was like $75 a shock for the dyno testing and then like $150-200 for a rebuild. The rebuild did include the dyno though so it was not on top of the rebuild price. This was also for double adjustables so it might be cheaper for singles. I will see if I can find that information again. #4. LTW oil pan clearance - from Blair Hartsfield
Top
Date: Mon, 19 Mar 2001 17:49:53 -0600 From: Blair Hartsfield <res04ans@gte.net> Subject: LTW oil pan clearance Does anyone know exactly how much clearance should there be between the vertical pickup tube of the LTW oil pump and the bottom of the removable plate that holds the conical screen (this 'plate' covers the hole where the tube is on the bottom of the pan)? I've recently installed the LTW oil pan on my 95 M3 (racer only. not street legal). The instructions say that the clearance is an issue, but doesn't give any clue to what it should be. I've measured it to be appx 1.5mm. Although I think this is not enough clearance, I'm still getting normal oil pressure (10psi for every 1k rpm). But, the oil pressure at idle is a tad low (5-8psi). I'll keep the story short and suffice it to say I'm troubleshooting anything to help prevent toasting another race motor :-( I've hit several other lists with this question, but haven't gotten an answer...so I thought someone here might know. TIA! Blair

#5. Power Steering Hose PN's - from shane.a.kleinpeter@accenture.com

Date: Mon, 19 Mar 2001 19:11:28 -0500 From: shane.a.kleinpeter@accenture.com Subject: Power Steering Hose PN's Chester posted a post from Jonathan: Parts and tools you may need if you want to replace hoses: * P/S Intake Manifold hose to the pump * P/S cooler return line to the resivoir * 1qt of ATF DexronIII/Mercon * 2 or 4 crush washers * 2 or 3 clamps * 10mm socket * 22mm socket or wrench * Pair of dikes to remove factory clamps * Long funnel I'd like to know if anybody has the part numbers for the hoses and what size crush washers and clamps I need to affect this repair. After having seen two cars lose power steering hoses at VIR right in front of me (it does a real doozy on your windsheild when this happens, and wipers don't improve it one bit) I want to take care of this. Also, are there any special considerations, other than the bleeding procedure, for replacing either of these hoses? I've done this on my 5 car, but never on an E36. The car had a puddle of Power Steering Fluid underneath it when I took it out of the garage to wash it on Saturday, so I figure it's about time to get this done ASAP since I have another school in two weeks. #6. Fuel Filter Replacement and Power Steering Questions - from Paul Elliott

I havent heard that this is one of those common problems that attacks specific model years or anything, but, just use it as a data point. _____________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3 <30000 mi Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger; Stygar Short Shift kit and Clutch Stop; Skaggs Pedals; X-brace; Sound by Kenwood Excelon, Polk, JL Audio

#9. M3 Interior Colors - from Wayne Miller
Top
Date: Mon, 19 Mar 2001 21:10:58 -0500 From: "Wayne Miller" <m3@waynemiller.com> Subject: M3 Interior Colors I have a '99 M3 with a Magma interior which is a dark tan color that looks very nice. When I bought the car almost 2 years ago, I bought the floor mats from the dealer. While the color was correct, they never really fit that well (they aren't the right shapes) so I bought a replacement set from Nick Alexander Imports over a year ago. I finally decided to replace the mats this past weekend and I opened the box to find that the floormats that I received were an orangey color - nothing like the interior of my car. I just looked at the latest BMP catalog and their color chart shows Magma as the same orangey color that I received from Nick Alexander. I have my orgininal window sticker and it says Magma too. If I had to compare it to a color in the BMW catalog, I would say that it is closest to Sand or Natur. Does anyone know if BMW changed the actual color? Does anyone else have a Magma interior and know what color mats to order? -Wayne

#10. Installed subwoofer box. . . want opinions - from Milotaks1@aol.com

Date: Mon, 19 Mar 2001 22:22:47 EST From: Milotaks1@aol.com Subject: Installed subwoofer box. . . want opinions Just yesterday I finished building a box, running the wires, and designing a beauty box. I built a flat board so it would just look like the trunk was smaller with carpet and what not. Then I decided to get creative and I carved out the ///M logo to show off the speakers. I don't know if it is over the top. If you want to see what it looks like email me and I will send it out. I didn't put it on a web page because I am not that computer literate. I plan on flush mounting the cd changer to the beauty box, but cant figure a way to mount it. I was thinking on top of the box the box but can you say skippage. I need to get a capacitor and probably an equalizer. Let me know what you think. Email- Milotaks1@aol.com
