Oak Tree and the kink are good fun. Its also the cheapest track that I know of for BMW schools at about $150-170. per weekend) Hope to see you there in 2001. How many times do you hit a pothole on the track? Come on out to Ohio and enjoy a day or two at Nelson Ledges ;-) All kidding aside, it is a real patchwork track but fun none the less. Regards, Rich 95 M3 - Testing of the SSR's at NL planned again this year.

My understanding is that all Dinan mods (at least those done at the dealer level) are kept track of (BMW doesn't certify pre-owned cars with Dinan stuff i've heard?) you might want to contact dinan directly and see if they can reference your car by VIN... daanesh _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

Date: 27 Mar 2001 06:39:23 -0800 From: dHoleman@spooze.com Subject: New E46 M3 I generally tend to agree with Seth's comments regarding the new E46 M3. One oft skipped fact is the significant re-engineering of the rear end that has occured and the new progressive differential. The new diff and suspension is supposed to make quite a bit more power out of the turns. My wish is that they offered a true sport version that was a bit lighter, had a firmer ride and skipped a few of the luxury options. David www.racepad.com

#5. Need Compression & Leak Down Numbers! - from George McLaughlin

Date: 27 Mar 2001 10:35:09 EST From: George McLaughlin <gfmiiilist@usa.net> Subject: Need Compression & Leak Down Numbers! Could someone please be so kind as to forward me the acceptable range of compression and leak down numbers for a 1995 M3 3.0L motor? Please include the email address gfmiiishop@usa.net on your reply as I do not have access to the messages from the list right now. I have a potential car that I may buy at the shop right now (unfortunately though at a Saab dealership which probably doesn't have the specs). Thanks! Three tests are performed: Radial Fatigue, Cornering Fatigue, and (relevant to this thread) Impact Test. The Impact is a pass/fail test based on loss of air pressure in a mounted tire when a test weight is dropped that impacts the side of the rim. We have purposely overdesigned our product so that very few incidents will occur. Perhaps Robbie wants to tell us more about his experience of flying off the track with the IFGs. :-) Paul Jerland President, IFG

Not to comment on SSRs, or any specific wheel, but I have three cracked track wheels (not SSRs), all due to the heavy stresses/heat of racing. All of the cracks develop around/in/near the hub, most likely due to metal fatigue as none of my wheels have ever been dropped (or over torqued), but I know the rotors can exceed 1,000 degrees. To some extent, I figure all racing parts have only a limited useful life, wheels included. Dan Snyder

Date: Tue, 27 Mar 2001 14:22:09 -0600 From: "DiVincenti, A.J." <ADiVin@lsuhsc.edu> Subject: SSR Competition A friend of mine with a 99 M3, bone stock, ordered the SSR Competition wheels in 17 x 8.5 with Kumho 225s. Tire Rack did not recommend a spacer for the front and claims it is not needed. When he put the wheels on, the wheel, not tire, rubs on the inside. When we called Tire Rack back, they still insist that it should fit. They are going to look into the situation. Hmm... Someone on this list has the SSR Comp, but I don't remember the size. Should this wheel fit without spacers? I don't know the offset of this wheel in 17x8.5. A.J.

(just keep the V1 on) Thanks, but I may stick to the interstate. Not as much fun, but easier to keep an eye out for patrols (I currently don't own a V1 - and a gasp goes out through the crowd :-)). See ya, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4
