Is this a Do It Yourself >project??? The waterpump was going to be the first, oh well. the thing to look for is coolant blowing or leaking from the radiator cap after a track run. for 9 months after my water pump failure, i would have coolant blowing out of my radiator cap after track runs. NO OVERHEATING would occur. lift the hood after runs and look for coolant. green spots dried into the hood under panel padding, puddles of coolant around the fan, etc. if you see coolant coming out of the radiator cap you are leaking around the gasket and have a warped or bad gasket or both. i repeat, this all happened with no overheating. the only time i ever overheated this while time, was when the leaking was so bad, that i blew out the entire amount of coolant in my car, and overheated because having no coolant in the system. so... look for the telltale coolant leking problems. if you have no coolant leaking you should be ok. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

P.S. race car engines are rebuilt after every few hours. and they get a new gasket by default. i'll bet that if that wasn't the case (new gasket so often) they'd fail alot more in race engines. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

Sorry, just realized that I didn't give all that much info regarding how to get the tires for anyone who's never looked into the Toyos. To my understanding, pricing is dependant on the dealer you get them from and, for the most part, they aren't available by mail order. You'll probably have to find a couple local dealers in order to comparison shop the pricing. Here's the "find a dealer" link: http://www.toyo.com/find_a_dealer/index.html I think the price *should* be around $170 or so per tire, but I'm not certain. I believe someone posted that they paid apx. that much for the 235/45s, but I might be mistaken. According to their website, these mounts are a harder rubber than stock. I'm wondering however if Korman is just reselling a BMW part. #6. '95 M3 with a stuck air flow selector - from Fadeev, Alex

Date: Mon, 2 Apr 2001 16:42:16 -0400 From: "Fadeev, Alex" <alex.fadeev@verizon.com> Subject: '95 M3 with a stuck air flow selector Hi folks, The air flow selection dial had been sticking on my '95 M3 for the past few months has finally reached the stage when it no longer turns 360 degrees. Removing the glove box and looking at the flap "controller" (plastic contraption that opens/closes the two air flaps) it appears that the fresh air flap is stuck open. It is the top lever that moves horizontally along the car axis. I eventually unfastened it from the plastic "controller" and it looks like the lever is stuck in the 'max extended towards the cabin' position. I can't see what that lever is engaging since the rest of the HVAC ducting is hidden in the dash. By looking at the Bentley diagrams it looks like the stuck lever is connected to the fresh air flow flap. Since it would be engaged in AC/recalculate modes, I tried those two but the lever is not budging. Does anyone know to what exactly the lever is attached? There are three electromechanical motors in the '95 M3's HVAC system, could one of them? Can it be reset? What do I need to disassemble to get to whatever that lever is attached to? Bentley claims that only the glove box needs to come out to get to those 3 motors, but with the box out of the way I still don't have a clear view of any of those motors. There is a metal brace bolted between the passenger A-pillar and center console that is partially in the way. Would removing it give me enough room to replace whatever is broken or does anything else need to come out? TIA, alex

#8. Questions - Exhaust, Seats, Rollbars - from Brent91NSX@aol.com
Top
Date: Mon, 2 Apr 2001 16:46:05 EDT From: Brent91NSX@aol.com Subject: Questions - Exhaust, Seats, Rollbars I have a few questions about the exhaust as well as race seats. First, the exhaust, I would like to purchase a race exhaust with no cats and straight pipes. Turner offers this option, the Borla, for $690 plus shipping. My other option is to have a muffler shop custom make straight pipes with a crossover. Anyone have any suggestions? If it would be just as beneficial to have a custom shop here do it and cost less, I would prefer that route. One thing I want to maintain however, is that it will still be bolt on and the factory cats can be put back on if needed. Second question, I am planning on putting racing seats in the car as well as 5 point belts. Any suggestions? Momo has some very good looking seats for around $200-300 but what is the difference between these and the $500+ ones I have seen. Is weight the only issue or is there a rigidity conern as well? Third question, which rollbar should I get if I actually want to get one (i.e. no waiting). Thanks, Brent Parks 95 M3

The engine mount is a real BMW Grupe N racing part, purchased from a very small department in Germany called BMW Rein Teile (Race Parts). Ray Korman speaks fluent German, which helps him buy stuff for his race cars and to resell. You might still be able to get a $14,000 titanium Grupe A control arm if you really desire the ultimate! I held the catalog once in my hands...it was pretty impressive, I think it was for SuperTouring in Germany, Austrailia and UK mainly (Grupe A only, Grupe N is kinda like German stock car racing and parts are a lot cheaper for that) - Skip George McLaughlin wrote: > > Date: 2 Apr 2001 16:08:13 EDT > From: George McLaughlin <gfmiiilist@usa.net> > Subject: Korman Engine & Transmission Mounts > > Does anyone have experience with the Korman engine and transmission mounts? > According to their website, these mounts are a harder rubber than stock.
