Lights still worked most of the time. Turned out to be burned (high resistance) contacts in one of the bulb sockets. They replaced the light assembly under warranty, but you could probably use some fine emery paper to clean the contacts if someone was out of warranty (which shouldn't be the case for your '99). If you're looking for a good price on Toyo RA-1s, try Mike Taylor at Vilven Tire at 888-775-8646. Tell him that I recommended them to you. For reference, I bought 225/45/17 Toyo RA-1s for $140 each last year. Shipping is included in the price of the tires. The price of $140 was actually for 225/45/17 Kumho Victoracers. I just talked with Mike though and he has a dozen of the new Toyo RA-1s coming in soon. He doesn't know what the price will be until he is invoiced by Toyo. Mike charges $170 for the former size of 235/45/17 which includes shipping (and shaving if you want it). Sorry for any confusion. AFAIK, the V8 will be a GTR version only available overseas and will be a limited production run. Also, about the SMG tranny....I dunno. It would sure be nice, but what about the pleasures of shifting a real stick? Also, slightly stupid question, but the SMG does use a computer controlled clutch, correct...like the Ferraris. Not that lame steptronic stuff, right? Also, about Porsche's Tiptronic, does it use a clutch as well, or a torque converter with only the computer controlling the shifting like the Steptronic? So anyway, I know that I would love the SMG, but I would also miss the good 'ol days of shifting with the left leg and all (though I've only been driving a stick for a little over two years now ;). I guess it's just one more factor to take out of the equation for a good driver..
