The LS blue is horrid (drove one last Friday). The steel grey metallic looks too light in real life. The red is too dark. Black is all I'd want (though the green is a possibility). - John S. _______________________________________________________ Send a cool gift with your E-Card http://www.bluemountain.com/giftcenter/

#3. Conforti intake install advice needed - from Vern Anderson

Date: Tue, 3 Apr 2001 16:50:50 -0400 From: Vern Anderson <VAnderson@IVW.com> Subject: Conforti intake install advice needed I hope to install a JC cold-air intake, Shark Injector and a Flowmaster exhaust on my 98 M3 this week or the next. Does anyone have any tips or advice on the intake install? Any advice on the Shark Injector and exhaust would also be welcome, but I've been told that the Shark Injector is a 5 minute job and the exhaust thing has been covered before plus I already have some very good instructions already on that. However, if anyone has any good nuggets of information about the Conforti Cold-Air intake I would appreciate it (estimated install time, things to watch for, tools to have handy, etc). I'll be doing the work at a very well-equipped shop. Thanks in advance! Vern Anderson 98 M3/2 - soon to be sharked, colder and louder....

I would like to switch from the Dinan chip in my 95 supercharged to something custom for a euro air mass meter (or something else of equal size), and perhaps a set of cams. Can anyone else confirm (or deny) this. Regards, Rich

This is especially important for those of us running forced induction. If the engine starts to detonate a bit usually the head gasket will blow first, potentially saving the engine. The same could happen with a NA engine that's running lean from some mechanical defect. Of course bad things can still happen with all the coolant that enters the cylinders.. Anyway, my point is that anyone who installs the head studs, O-rings, etc, should make sure that the engine is going to be able to last without that fuse. I think that this is a paricular problem for people who habitually blow the gaskets from running too much boost, timing, etc.. -Matt --- Sean Hester <seanh_race@hotmail.com> wrote: > Date: Mon, 02 Apr 2001 12:36:44 -0700 > From: "Sean Hester" <seanh_race@hotmail.com> > Subject: Re: [E36M3] Head gaskets (was: Overheating > Problem - Need Advice) > > >Seems like one of the weak points of our engines is > the head gasket. > > from a logical standpoint it has to be. it's made > of what? cork, paper? i > have no idea really, but it's something soft. not > metal. > > the sealing of any system is the weakpoint. where > did my bathroom > leak/fail? the middle of the tiles and tub? no. > the caulking around all > those things. for two reasons. softer matrial > doing the sealing job. and > the fact that things always happen in "rough" areas. > even if you had a > gasket of the same material as the head, the mere > fact of having a "joint" > there would make it the weak spot. > > P.S. race car engines are rebuilt after every few > hours. and they get a > new gasket by default. i'll bet that if that wasn't > the case (new gasket so > often) they'd fail alot more in race engines. > _________________________________________________________________ > Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at > http://explorer.msn.com > > > ************************************************************* > List Commands > UNSUBSCRIBE - (in subject line) unsubscribes you > from the mailing list. > DIR - sends a listing of files available in the > list's GET directory. > GET filename1.ext,filename2.ext - sends the > requested file(s). > > To issue a command/request to the server: > Send a message with the command you wish executed as > the > subject of the message. > ************************************************************* > > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Cal wants a great shop goto Race Marque Systems (818)778-6106. I only had a couple of problems which I'd like to hear from anyone with any knowledge. Driveshaft coupling is slightly cracked, is this serious (apparently a common problem around this mileage) and very small valve cover gasket leak. Should I have all the gaskets replaced? ps. I also had the waterpump changed. I made it 80K on plastic. But had a high pitch whine for the last couple 100 miles from it. My rears are totally gone and there's maybe 30% tread left on the stock pilots. Is $850 mounted/balanced a good price for all 4? Would anybody be interested in some Pilots with 25-30% tread? Any offer will do.. The place is Georgia Tire Depot here in Atlanta. The guy assures me that if he scratches anything he will buy me a new rim. Anyone had any good/bad experiences with them. Thanks Abe __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email at your own domain with Yahoo! Mail. http://personal.mail.yahoo.com/
