Let's see if I can remember this from my summer working as an air conditioning installer. Air conditioners transfer heat from one place to another, they don't actually "produce" cold. Freon, or whatever they're using now, is pumped through the air conditioning system. The Freon has a lower (or higher - I can't remember which) boiling point than water. The compressor condenses the freon, making it cooler, it's pumped through coils - through which the air you want to be cooled is blown. Water from the air blowing across the coils - since it's warmer, usually contains more water. The water condenses on the coils and is dehumidified. If there's too much moisture in the air though, it won't all have time to condense on the coils and the rest will blow out the vents. Wow, that's really it, but I must have gotten even stupider than I thought, since I'm having a really difficult time explaining something I used to know. Oh, and the freon heats up at some point and is passed through some more coils at the other end of the system where air is passed over them to cool the freon. That's why air conditioners just move heat from one place to another. I am dumb. Maybe it's just because it's Friday. Probably not. - John - smartest year, seventh grade - quite a while ago On Fri, 6 Apr 2001 13:19:52 -0600, DiVincenti, A.J. wrote: Date: Fri, 6 Apr 2001 14:19:19 -0500 From: "DiVincenti, A.J." <ADiVin@lsuhsc.edu> Subject: Air Conditioning When the air conditioning blows frost from the vents, what is happening. Corkscrew is not as scary, since it's I don't think #2 is that bad. sure there's a wall in front of you, but did you see that humongous gravel pit? I lost my brakes going into that turn one time (try heel toeing with no brake pressure...) I took it straight off and barely made it half way into the pit. they had to tow me out and I thought my car was going to pull apart.... Scott

Freon has a lower boiling point which means that its a gas at room temp and water is still a liquid =) > The compressor condenses the > freon, making it cooler, it's pumped through coils - through which the air > you want to be cooled is blown. The compressor condenses the freon, making it hotter. It's then passed through the heat exhange coils to cool this heated gas. It's when the heated gas is cooled, it then is allowed to expand which makes it cool, right? >Water from the air blowing across the coils > - since it's warmer, usually contains more water. #10. how to fix rear seat rattle - from John Stoj
Top
Date: Fri, 6 Apr 2001 13:49:44 -0700 (PDT) From: John Stoj <John_Stoj@excite.com> Subject: how to fix rear seat rattle The latches on the seats have a red button on the top that rattles on every bump and can drive you crazy. Is there anyway to take out the button or at least quiet it down? If it's really bothering you, stick it to the housing with a piece of electrician's tape or that stuff they called Fun-tack. That should stop the rattling. - John S. _______________________________________________________ Send a cool gift with your E-Card http://www.bluemountain.com/giftcenter/
