I recently discharged my batt due to leaving the trunk a wee ajar with the car cover on it. well the thing was dead as a door nail, recharged it and let the car run then covered it back up. after a week. I uncover the car to due some spring maintenance on it new plugs, oil etc. interior detail yada yada. and the car would not start noticed 10 volts on the VDO gauge. well it just so happens that i was pricing out Batteries due to the list thread and found an interstate retailer near me with a replacement that fit perfect for 90 bucks with higher cranking amps. Since the car still had its orig batt 5/94, I figured I was on borrowed time anyway. hence the pre-pricing. So just an FYI for those looking add interstate to the list that has no fitment problems. I believe that the factory battery is rated for 36 months, so anything beyond that (or whatever it is) is good. With proper care (don't totally discharge it, keep it filled with DISTILLED water, keep the terminals clean, keep it charged, no over-charging, etc), a battery can last five years or more. If you totally discharge a battery that's at (or beyond) it's rated life, you'll cause some permanent damage. You'll be lucky if it accepts a full charge. Once this happens, your best bet is to get it replaced. -rb

I've been running the 255 Kumho's on17x9 IFGs on my M3/4 with no problems. I have 15mm spacers in the front and did have to mildly roll the fenders. They fit, but barely. If you have an aftermarket exhaust you may have to persuade (read 5lb hammer) a bit to clear the left rear. Not sure what the 8.5" rims will do to your section width, however. HTH John

I have a '98 M3/4 and I just installed a set of Eibach Pro-kit spring and kept the stock shocks. It is a improvement over the stock setup but this is just a shot term solution for me. I think that I can do better. I just don't want to spend over $1500 for a coilover setup without knowing how the ride is going to be. Anyone else interested? Joe. '98 M3/4 ----------- hm... it's interesting. I had konis and H&Rs on my car and was totally happy with them, did a track event or two and was still happy... right up until the time I rode in a car with H&R coilovers. not only did it ride better but it was much more controlled. :) $1700 later, (well, minus what I got when I sold the Konis and H&Rs) I'm happier with the car. I'm not sure how much good subjective reports on a suspension are going to do if you haven't tried out other solutions. It might be valuable to try out other suspensions before you decide yay or ney if you're in the market... maybe a bunch of us bay area guys can get together and have a suspension comparo day? ;) -kit, wanting sway bars... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? No spacers needed, but you will have to roll the front and rear fenders. They wheels have less than 500 miles on them, no scratches, no dings, nothing. I have a set of Kumho V700s mounted on them with 65% tread life left. IFGs were $1700 plus $450 for the tires. I would love to get $1600 for the set, plus shipping thanks Mike

#9. PF90 vs PF93 vs R4 ? - from Sean Hester

So now I need to get more pads. Is PF90 >still "king of the hill," or are there other compounds worth trying ? I >really liked PF90's ability to stop without fading, lap after lap. And >what >stopping ability it is ! for a real racing application, or hardcore track car duty, pf-90s are still the best in my opinion. nothing stops better, fades less, lasts longer, and is as easy to modulate as pf-90s. of course they are a bit spendy. ;-P they are pretty marginal on the street though. dust, noise, rattling, take a while to warm up, etc... in my "younger" years i lived with them as street pads. eventually i couldn't deal with them anymore, and woudl either swap out street pads or i used R4 pads (not as good at track, better on street) instead. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
