I will be parked next to a blue 95 M3 also with Wisconsin license plates. I got a ride around Road America a few days ago. The biggest change is the wall on the inside between turns 4 and 5. Its moved back away from the track about 15 feet at the bottom of the hill. That's the only change I noticed on the track. There is also a large new building that will be shared between Skip Barber and Road America operations. See you there. -- Mike Clemens www.mikeclemens.com '97 M3/4 '00 S4

It seems to me like a question that is worth answering for many on this list so I though I would ask it again. My M3 is ready for brakes in the front and I am going to replace the stock Jurids with the same thing. I was under the impression that these and all German made pads do not contain asbestos. Is this correct? Are there any other harmful things of which I need to be aware? Eric's 2nd attempt 95 ///M3 <mailto:trela@cyberlogtech.com>

Not so short answer: This country is absolutely freaking paranoid about asbestos. Even encapsulated asbestos that couldn't hurt anyone unless you sawed it open with a chainsaw and ate it. Now, do you really think that it would be legal or even sane for a manufacturer to put asbestos into something that is going to dust into the atmosphere? Have you ever heard of anyone double bagging used brake pads and running a HEPA filter and full body suit with respirator while working on brakes? Just because one manufacturer is "Raybestos" doesn't mean that any brake pads have asbestos. In fact, if you find any currently available over-the-counter consumer product with asbestos in it, I'll eat it. As to your second question, most things are harmful in one way or another. If you do the job yourself the brake cleaner and anti-squeal compound you will need to use are toxic. Wear latex surgical gloves (available at all home improvement stores) and work outside or with the garage door open to keep from inhaling too many fumes from the brake cleaner. J'A'P "J. #6. new Rear T.A. Bushing? - from Matt Henson

Date: Sun, 15 Apr 2001 15:07:12 -0700 (PDT) From: Matt Henson <hensonator@yahoo.com> Subject: new Rear T.A. Bushing? Hey Y'all, I put in new rear trailing arm bushings today. I noticed that the new ones were a bit different than the old ones. They didn't have a flange on the outboard side. The outer metal area was also longer. These two conspire to make it difficult to estimate how far to drive them. I guess if it can't make the toe spec I'll have to re-adjust the bushing position. It also guarantees that you'll need an alignment after the job. Anyway, the dealer had to order these for me so I assume that this is a new part. The receipt says they are PN 33-32-1-097-009. Hmm.. the BMW part CD says that's the PN for the '95. But the 96+ has a different PN. The receipt even says '96. Man if those guys at John Roberts screwed me again.. So what's the deal with these collarless bushings? -Matt __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email at your own domain with Yahoo! It's $50 and isn't reported to the insurance companies or other states for points. Don't remember if the cutoff is 10 or 15 over but at least when you get caught it's only a minor annoyance. Now, if 15 over isn't enough, then all bets are off. Personally, I try to keep my speed within the safety zone which for most parts of NY State is 15 over, except of course on the track. Unfortunately I lost the thread on the best places to buy them. I think there is a discount at PF for the list or is my memory wrong? Do they make pads for the E30? I couldn't find a usage chart on the performancefriction site. #10. Re: Opinions on Manual Brake Bleeders? - from Ron Buchalski
Top
Date: Sun, 15 Apr 2001 23:11:49 From: "Ron Buchalski" <rbuchals@hotmail.com> Subject: Re: Opinions on Manual Brake Bleeders? Geof, Ever since I purchased a pump bleeder (from BavAuto), I now have an Easi-Bleed sitting on my shelf, collecting dust. The Easi-Bleed is a real POS compared to the pressure bleeder. I also have one of those Mity-Vac vacuum pumps. I use it to suck the brake fluid out of the reservoir, and to test vacuum parts (spark advance, vacuum valves, etc). It's an absolute worthless POS for flushing a brake system. Although Jim Powell has designed a cap to automatically siphon out extra fluid when a pressure bleeder is disconnected from the brake fluid reservoir, I've not seen a need for it. Every time I've used my pressure bleeder, a "bubble" of air remains at the top of the brake fluid reservoir, so the fluid level doesn't end up being at the rim of the fluid reservoir when I remove the pressure bleeder's cap from the reservoir. Think about it this way...when you hook up the bleeder to your brake system and pressurize it, initially there is air trapped in the bleeder tube (from the pressure tank to the cap that attaches to your reservoir), that gets pumped into the reservoir. The air doesn't get pushed through the brake system, but remains at the top of the reservoir. So, you'll never end up with a topped-off brake fluid reservoir. At least, that's the way it works for me. BTW, the BavAuto (and BMP) pressure bleeders are private labeled versions of the unit sold by Motive Products: http://www.motiveproducts.com/ So, Jim P, someone at Motive Products stole your idea and owes you money! He/she must be an M3 Digest member... ;-) -rb >Date: Sun, 15 Apr 2001 10:39:28 -0400 >From: Geof McLaughlin <gfmiiilist@usa.net> >Subject: Opinions on Manual Brake Bleeders? > >I have been bleeding my brakes for years now using the Easi-bleed >system.
