No stealth car - it was two blocks away when I noticed the LS blue. The color looks a lot better in motion than on display. Anyone here? I work at Dixon Landing & 880 - I'll buy lunch! <g> Donna ------- 88 M3, "Guido," JP #41 95 330isA, super-commuter

I'm running Mille Miglia 17x9's all the way around with Hoosier 245/40-17's. In order to make the fronts fit, I'm running H&R 15mm spacers. I personally don't think the 10mm's would have cleared, but you're running smaller wheels so the tire might be thinner when inflated. -peterg on 4/18/01 6:41 AM, Ahmad Lutfeali at m3_racer99@hotmail.com wrote: Date: Wed, 18 Apr 2001 13:28:57 -0000 From: "Ahmad Lutfeali" Subject: Mille Miglia MM 2 Sport wheels to work with 10mm Spacers?? I wanted to order a set of 10mm spacers from Steve D (Ultimate Garage) and was wondering if anyone of you out there are running MM 2 Sport wheels (17*8) with those spacers. After wrapping 245/40/17 Hoosiers, clearance is an issue (hence the spacer solution). I will be hitting the track day after (and am short for time :)and wanted to know if it worked with these wheels before I over nighted it (and then realize it doesent work). Other option is to get the Dinan ones.

Hello, Still making the transition to the M3, I need to track down a means of carrying a couple of bikes. I have a Yakima roof rack that I used on my Nissan, and I think it will do the trick on the M3 if I get new mounting clips (Yakima part Q18?). Is anyone using a roof rack on the M3? Experience with the Yakima? Anything special I need to know? Did you get proper fitment as 3-series sedan," even though its a coupe? Jim 98 M3/2 Jim, I use a Thule rack on my 96 M3 coupe to haul bikes, skis, canoes, lumber .... It works great. The roof line on a 3 series coupe works very well for rack mounting even without the integral rack clips the sedan has. I don't have experience with Yakima personally, but know it to be a quality product. My guess is it'll work great too. I'd look at Thule's method too just to compare. Also, make sure you get some of that 3M protective film. Install it on your roof where the rack feet will sit. It is available in kit form at some bike shops specifically for this application but bigger sheets cut to fit will work just as well. The film is visible but not ugly when the rack is not on the car, and will absolutely save the finish underneath. Good luck, Scott 96 M3/2 Boston/Modena harnessed, braced, UUC exhausted, soon to be sharked, sometimes top loaded

Websites? Advice? You probably need to stiffen the rear sway bar. I'm running my UUC bars at the middle position on the front and full stiff in the rear. The car is very well balanced - springs & shocks are stock. Try that first, and use tire pressure changes to fine tune the handling. Hope that helps, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4

But if like me most of your driving is straight line or >highway, you'll get accelerated wear of the inside edges of the front tires. Yep, this is the downside to this mod. But I'd recommend it IF you are running same size wheels all around, go to quite a few track events, and are lazy like me and don't want to deal with adjustable camber plates <BG>. With same size wheels you can rotate F<->R to help even out the tire wear. You'll also want to get the tires dismounted & flipped L<->R once as well (using this procedure I got ~40,000 miles on the previous set of Pilot Sports - that was mostly highway miles BTW). >Disassembly of the struts requires knowledge of how properly and safely to >use strut spring compressors. With respect, if you already know how to >disassemble struts you probably don't need instructions, and if you aren't >familiar with it, you would be better to have someone do that part for you. Agreed. A good shop should be able to do the swap in about an hour or so. Cheers, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4

Lost the internet retailer contact addresses. Can anyone help me out and suggested pads are welcome. Prefer non-squeaking and low dust (heard Pagid Orange is a possibility), yet good track performance and streetability a must.

Yesterday I put on a new set of 16" Michelin Pilot SX MXX3s. Do you guys familar with the MXX3s have any recommendations for tire pressures at the track? Since I've only got one day at Lime Rock, I want to have the car as sorted out as possible when I get there! Thanks, Steve m3steve@earthlink.net

(Note, Steve D'G has both 20 and 30mm lengths, but I needed it last night for test fitting, tonight for final assembly). However, I believe the 35 will fit, as I assume the hole goes all the way through and the end of the bolt, even at 35mm, will not quite hit the dust shield. The stock 15mm bolts are quite short! For washers, I am using 1/2" SAE washers that are ~0.1" thick, and doubling them up. The total of 0.20" (~5mm) gives an additional 1.8 - 1.9 deg neg. camber. Date: Thu, 19 Apr 2001 05:52:00 -0700 (PDT) From: Chester Wong <chester_p_wong@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] MZ3 vs M3 Well, the MZ3 has the shift lever that people used to make a SS kit for the M3...so I guess it's not possible to transfer the SS kit from the M3 to the MZ3. The only way to shorten up the MZ3's shifter, AFAIK, is to use Ron's "shortened from the top" shifter. About the big brakes, the rear end of the MZ3 uses the older suspension of the E30s.
