But when I did mine, ABS intervention became intermittant. Adding the Movit kit to the back brought the proportioning back into spec and all is well. Now I could see a distinct advantage on the track to having ABS non-functional so that you could (assuming you have the talent) use threshold braking. On the street you may not feel this is such a great idea. So to say no one has problems is untrue. I also suspect that having very aggresive pads on the front and stock pads on the back might possibly provoke the same ABS behaviour. But I'm not positive, don't have the willpower at this hour to think about it too hard :) and will wait for the rest of the group to chime in. But generally, I agree, there should be no problems. Just test your ABS and proportioning BEFORE you get on the track. You don't want the back end of that car coming around on you when you least expect it. If it was me..... I'd change the back over too. When I put the P-Car kit on the back, great braking became phenomenal. The rears DO in fact help. Jim Roy Kao wrote: > 2. I had my Inspection II done a few weeks ago at RMS in Van Nuys,CA , with Water pump, coolant etc for $664.09 Total. Sounds like "The Driving Machine" have been running engines with the garage door closed. $1400 is disgraceful. -------------------- 6 -------------------- Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2001 14:19:08 -0700 From: "david tow" <david_tow@hotmail.com> Subject: RE: [E36M3] Inspection 2 - expensive!! I've ended up taking the car to an independent shop close by called, "The Driving Machine" on Bubb Road, Cupertino. Very neat shop. I am having an inspection two done there, since my car has had almost 60k miles. They charge me roughly $6k excluding coolant and brake/clutch fluid, which are over $300. The plastic impeller and thermostat replacement costs me over $500. Now the total bill kicks in for well over $1400!! It really hurts. :o( David >From: "Mount, Mike" <JMMn@pge.com> >A local independant might be cheaper? Some of the stuff is easy >enough if you've the tools, space and inclination. For a 3 hour drive, do you have more to offer than just free beer and a big T.V.? How's your neighbor's wife doing? (just kidding Donna!) Heck, maybe it'll even be time to replace my brake pads by then... Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2001 23:26:20 From: "reed nicholson" <reedthis48@hotmail.com> Subject: SSR Comps For what it's worth, I got my SSR Competitions, 81/2x17, and A032Rs, 235/40-17, from Tire Rack today, and boy do they look nice. And light...I picked one up with the cardboard still hiding the wheel and thought maybe they had screwed up and just shipped the tires. Put one on my strain-gage scale: 38.5 pounds for wheel and tire. Seems pretty damn light to me. Now I just hope they fit without any clearance problems.
