Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2001 22:52:01 -0400 From: eevans@planetc.com Subject: ?s re: early vs. later model '95 M3s Group, I have an early model E36 M3 (4/94) that does not have the "pre-wired symbol" for a keyless entry/security system on the driver's side trunk. Does this absolutely mean I can't install the OE BMW keyless entry module in this car? I have a later model M3 (7/95) that indicates and accepts the factory module. Am I SOL on the earlier model or is there a work around for it? While I'm at it, the 4/94 version doesn't have the OBC. My later model does. Can I retrofit the earlier model w/ my later model's OBC? BTW, one of the two is going up for sale if anyone's interested. The later model only has 62K and is white on black. The earlier model is Red/black w/ 76K. TIA Evan

It was the same setup (PF83s on front)that I used on my E30 325iS as well for several years of track weekends. The front does the majority of the braking so that will give you the biggest bang for the buck. I've had no adverse affects from the ABS system. I think it would ultimately be better to have PF90s all around but I've had no problems with this setup. FWIW, I actually use stock pads on the rear of my M3 and used Metalmasters on the rear of my E30. I feel a little better now. You get what you pay for, I guess. Well, at least, in this case. Yeah, they seemed to be very professional and the shop is unusually clean and tidy. The service advisor was very impressed with my own-designed logbook and the way I get track of my service records. He even had the shop manager to come and share what he saw. I asked if it was ok to leave my seating position alone since I've adjusted it so perfectly. To my surprise, he told me he's got such request from a number of M-series owners. Are you one of them? BTW, they gave me a clean loaner - a 87 325e automatic with 250k miles! How the technology has advanced over the years; I cannot wait to go back to my own car and enjoy it again. I always know how slow the 325e is, but never expected it to be sooooo slow! :o) David >From: "Joe Dyer" <joedyer@home.com> >Subject: Re: [E36M3] Inspection 2 - expensive!! >David, > >I have used this shop for three years now. I cannot imagine how I could live without this digest now. Based on what I have read so far, I've got this impression that the cost of maintenance of our beloved M3s in the Bay Area is much much more expensive than anywhere else in the country (one of my friends has a Ferrari 308 and he's paid about as much money for his car's major service over in Texas). It looks like it's worth learning how to take care of the car myself. Where is Bill Arnold? Is he doing the job in his own garage? Does Bassett have a good heart? :o) David Tow >From: D Seeley <dseeley@infoasis.com> > >David, > >I paid $900 at Claridge's for my first Insp.
