David, You're right, the digest is invaluable to those of us who didn't choose our parents very well. :) I remembered how to work on cars just about the time my warranty ran out...but I save the big (or really messy) stuff for the professionals. Bill Arnold, BMW Repair God, has a shop in San Rafael. He's leaving this weekend to run One Lap* for a couple of weeks. When he gets back, make an appointment for a full tech inspection (mention Bassett, or me, or Bora, etc...). If anything needs fixing, let us know & we'll get your hands dirty. BTW, your local 'supervisors' like Sierra Nevada & pizza. Come to think of it, a dealer might be cheaper. :) Donna ------- 88 M3, "Guido," #41 JP 95 330isA, super-commuter > From: "david tow" <david_tow@hotmail.com> > Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2001 22:16:09 -0700 > To: dseeley@infoasis.com > Cc: JMMn@pge.com, e36m3@bmw-m.net, TOgi@etimecapital.com, joedyer@home.com, > jsp98m3@apexcone.com, akyol@mac.com, stom@qualcomm.com > Subject: Thank You! My 5/94 build M3 had a factory keyless alarm installed (and just removed). The alarm was mounted in the standard location (behind the glove box area) and plugged in there. From the manual I've seen, it looks to be the same/similar to the factory pre-wired in my 97. I'll know more when I put the kit in the 97, but I think you're OK. John

#6. Backup/Reverse lights - from Paul D Agustin

Date: Fri, 27 Apr 2001 08:26:14 -0500 From: Paul D Agustin <agustin@iaxs.net> Subject: Backup/Reverse lights OK all you wiring gurus. My backup lights seem to be working intermittently since I pulled the M3 out of winter slumber. I noticed last night when pulling into the garage that the space behind was not illuminated well, then suddenly it got brighter. I repeatedly put the car into reverse and then back to neutral to see if I could replicate the problem, lo and behold I can. Sometimes the backup lights don't even come on. My question is where should I begin to look for the cause? Is it a switch around the shifter? Is it a relay somewhere else? Help I don't want to be rear ended when backing out of a parking spot. Try http://www.racerpartswholesale.com for all the hawk compounds. The only issue you may have is that toward the middle and end of the racing season, they run low on the popular stuff. Check them out, they have great prices and even better customer support.
