David ----------------------------------------------- Date: Tue, 01 May 2001 17:12:41 -0700 That sounds high but since it is the Bay Area with 1300 sq ft shacks going for $800k, $1400 may seemed like a bargain! I think if you priced out the parts, you would be surprised how much you actually paid for labor, e.g water pump $100, thermostat $25, tranny oil $10, etc. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

The pump is on only for the first part of the cold start process until the engine begins to warm up. This is supposed to help with the emissions level when the engine is cold. The "kit" is 4 simple pieces of steel which I think costs less than $5 plus shipping. I paid another 45 minutes of labor to have them welded on. The result is not real pretty but is functional and so far so good - no failures. Date: Wed, 2 May 2001 00:11:02 EDT From: Brent95M3@aol.com Subject: Koni or Bilstein Thanks to the accident, I am getting shocks now. I was going to get them soon anyways, but will be gettitng them sooner than expected. So, Bilstein or Koni's, it is for very hard driven street car. I will do drivers schools this summer. Ride is of a little concern but certainly not much. More than likely I will set it and forget it w/ the Koni's. Also, what is the price difference on these two. Can I get your opinions as well (I have H&R Sport springs). Thanks, Brent Parks Wounded "1 BAD M3"

Is a miss as good as a mile with strut clearance, or would it be safer to use spacers? The wheels look great, even without the centercaps that should ship from Tire Rack in a week or so. To add to the thread, my experiences with Centerforce have been very positive. In my import drag racing days, I had a CF clutch in my turbo Civic that ran 12.7 in the 1/4 mile. The clutch never slipped. The CF not only grabbed very nicely, but had a pedal effort almost the same as stock. Granted this is BMW not Honda, but I think Centerforce engineers their products very well. Steve 99 M3

Or if you had your car in for the whole 8 hour day, that's $125/hour or $250,000 per 2000 hour year! Maybe the world's oldest profession comes close to this rate but I doubt many can sustain an 8 hour day ;-) Wen >From: "david tow" <david_tow@hotmail.com> >To: wwliew@hotmail.com >CC: e36m3@bmw-m.net >Subject: Re: [E36M3] What do I get for $1400? >Date: Tue, 01 May 2001 18:34:45 -0700 > >Wen, > >You're right - almost $1000 out of that $1400 was for labor! > >David _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
