You lucky bastard. Some difficult mathematics tells me that you're paying less than half the $150/hr labor rate that BMW San Francisco quoted me to install some suspension parts. Needless to say, I'll be going elsewhere for that work, and (after I finally get my car back from their body shop), my m3 will never again darken their service bay door. $150/hr! I could not believe that they could give me that rate with a straight face. drew | 98M3/4 | Thinking of driving back to Seattle next time I need the car serviced... _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

#5. Vanos Blocker for Supercharger? - from Bill Lackey

Date: Wed, 02 May 2001 20:10:22 -0700 From: "Bill Lackey" <btlackey@hotmail.com> Subject: Vanos Blocker for Supercharger? Does anybody know the REAL affect of the Dinan Vanos Blocker? I am considering changing from Dinan Software to the Conforti/ERT software with their custom Air Flow meter. Some may ask why. Here is my reasoning.. My car is currently running rich when under boost, and makes 260 at the wheels. A have three other supercharged Dinan M3's that all seem to make the same 260 hp. ERT seems to make between 290 - 320. I think its worth trying? This also allows other upgrades, such as cams, as ERT has done this before. I'm sure Dinan could do the cams as well, but in my experience would probally be 4-5 times more expensive. Anybody think I'm way off base here? #8. Now Bilstein install [was DIY Koni install] - from LoweSeaton@aol.com

Date: Thu, 3 May 2001 00:02:39 EDT From: LoweSeaton@aol.com Subject: Now Bilstein install [was DIY Koni install] Mike writes: I have put bilsteins on 3 different M3s. On my own M3, I have removed them several times. Each time the shaft did turn. Huh! I've done 2 different Bilstein installs and I swear the shaft/tube/whatever never budged. I was going to say that is the **ONLY** good thing about Bilsteins. Classic case of YMMV. AND REMEMBER, YOU WILL NEED TO CUT THE BUMP STOPS IF YOU ARE USING ANY LOWERING SPRING OR THE CAR WILL BOTTOM OUT -SO TO SPEAK-IN THE FRONT I agree the Bilsteins are so absurdly stiff I think they are damaging. I have yet to cut my bump stops. Too many other fires to put out. But I am not too hopeful it will improve the Bilsteins. I do have non-stock springs, i.e., Dinan. However, they are only 1/4" lower than stock. I can't believe that little difference would cause me to bottom out. We'll see. Lowell Seaton '95 M3 - rock truck ride Bilsteins Dallas, Texas

I thought B-T-G was marketing all of Jim Mihal's products but I see their web site is down. Jim? Stephen? You guys still around? Jim Mihal (JT-Designs) makes the strut nuts for his strut brace. I think he charges about $80 for a set of six. A little cheaper than the BMW nuts at $96. http://jt-designs.com/ Lowell Seaton '95 M3 - several JT products including strut tower brace Dallas, Texas
