I never leave the track with the front of the car pointed in the direction of travel. I suppose I could put some Grand Am cladding on the sides and rear to protect from stone chips though. My car does have burl wood trim everywhere, leather padding on the door panels, h-k sound, power seats, ASC, OBC. So I guess it has the Lux-package. But, no tilt wheel, wassuup? I'm in no hurry to go monkeying with my car but, by the time I dealt with paint (Byzanz Metallic), how much $$$ (bank) am I talking about to get the mesh grill air dam (hey then I would have a spare, hope I never need to use it) assuming that I could do the actual install myself. And PS. does anyone know what the part number(s) would be? Mel ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mel, Your nose looks like it belongs on a luxo-model M3. Do you by any chance have a ton of wood plastered all over the interior surfaces? Leather padding on the door panels? Electric seats? Every other trinket imaginable? Than you've got a legitimate lux-packaged M3. The other possbility is that your PO had left the cross-mashed airdamn on the side of the road and for some reason repalced it with what you have. alex f

You also should get the 6 little twist on nuts that secure it. DO NOT TRY AND UNSCREW THEM. If you do, you'll soon be the saddest sack in the land and be looking for a new bumper cover too. Cut them off with small, very sharp diagonal cutters and then thread the new ones on with the grill. You can get to the grill by putting the front of the car on jackstands, removing the undertray and laying on your back. Jim No, I did NOT break the nips off mine, but I could see it coming. And PS. does anyone > know what the part number(s) would be? > i have a lux model as well and replaced the air dam with the mesh type a month or so ago. i don't have the part number here at work, but the dealer here in boulder, co wants $80 for it. I paid less because i know half the folks there and i buy them beer, but it was still the most expensive piece of plastic i ever bought. you need to get the front of the car up in the air and remove three splash guards to get at the air dam. from there, it's easy -- rip those speed clips out and pop new ones on. i had one heck of a time finding metric speed clips. thanks to jim powell (and other list members whose names have been forgotten) who were patient enough to explain this to me a month ago. hey jim: you want any more foofy crap? i could care less about the lux stuff. wood trim, power seats, padded door panels, whatever. i wish i had an LTW with cloth seats. :( let me know if you need the part number, Jesse

The dual heads counter rotate and significantly reduce vibration compared to a single head polisher. Anyone else on this list a Cyclo user? They are not common. If anyone is interested, I can get them for you (see more here http://www.cyclomfg.com/). As far as air powered units, you better have a BAMF air compressor since these units use a lot of CFM's to my knowledge. Also, I feel it is easier to drag around an electric cord over an air compressor hose, especially when working on a car such as polishing. Lastly, air units I feel are too noisy, especially with a compressor running, even more so than the electric models which I also think are noisy. So, when will Snap-On make the super-quiet cordless version of Cyclo's dual orbital polisher ;-) Best regards, Rich

Mel, Since your car is a 97/4 Byzantz, it is very likely a "luxury package" model. However, the manual 5 speed makes it a very rare car. You can add a spoiler lip and change out the "braces" for the mesh grill. They're available at the dealer. #11. How often should brake discs be changed? - from Luis Veras

How often should I expect to make this expense? This car is only used as a daily driver (ie. no autoxing), but I do tend to drive quite hard 60% of the time. Thanks.

UPDATE So, let me get this straight (non-poof inference included), the grid work under the bumper is a painted bit that is secured to the airdam with twist on nuts? And it can be "unbolted", as it were your advise noted below, from the airdam? That's too easy. I thought I would have to replace the entire bumper cover (hence my reference to "paint")! So, btw, what is a "Vader" seat? Mel ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- The actual piece of mesh costs around 20-25.
