The mesh grill comes only in black. Any other colors seen have been painted. The luxo grills came in body color. #6. Nose? What about wings? - from david tow

Date: Mon, 07 May 2001 15:31:21 -0700 From: "david tow" <david_tow@hotmail.com> Subject: Nose? What about wings? Hi, all, It seems everyone was more interested in the nose of our M3s than anything else today! :o) I've sent out a mail regarding door molding problem, and have not received any response: I had a loose door molding fixed on the left side of my 95 M3 coupe about a month ago. Well, the darn thing popped out again today! I carefully looked at the back side of the molding, and noticed that one of the plastic "lips" that was supposed to grip onto the clip was broken. The "lip" looks so flimsy that I am afraid super glue probably won't fix the problem. Any way of fixing this problem? How much does this piece of molding cost? Surely hate to replace the whole darn thing because of this tiny broken piece... Thanks for any tip or suggestion! __ __ David Tow / / / / | / | ______ 95 M3 coupe / / / / |/ | o/______\o Red/gray / / / / | (OO=00=OO) david_tow@hotmail.com / / / /__/|__/|__| []*=XX=*[] _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

I think regluing the edging is hopeless. Another option, though permanent, is to use a soldering iron to melt the molding and clip together. This would be a last resort though. I would check junkyards for trim though. Jim david tow wrote: > Date: Mon, 07 May 2001 15:31:21 -0700 > From: "david tow" <david_tow@hotmail.com> > Subject: Nose? No its not the plastic impeller water pump. He said that this piece tends to crack. He even looked at my M3 and showed me hair line cracks in it. He said he thought you could get it at BMP. I have not been able to find this part. Has anyone else found/ replaced this part since then? Juan Bruce BMW CCA GGC '95 M3

I just did this swap a few weeks ago. After realizing that it is an overpriced piece of plastic, I decided to return it. I found some nice wire mesh (smaller diamonds than the OEM mesh) at Home Depot for $7 for a 20ft roll. That's $0.70 per mesh and I can afford to make "mistakes" ;-) The silver mesh also matches nicely with the color of my car, artic silver. When removing the "braces", try not to break any of the 8 plastic studs. They're part of the bumper. FWIW, I used clear RMV (silcone) to patch the small tear on the control arm all joint boot and it appears to have sealed it. I pressed on the ball joint boot pretty firmly and no more leaks. I don't know if this will be a permanent repair, but I'll keep my eye on it. If not, I'll replace the boots as suggested by Neil.
