I met a guy yesterday who bought his Laguna Seca blue dealer demo at the list price of $54,000 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. This was the first I had heard that there was no "market adjustment" made by the dealership. Bret '95 M3 <---- For Sale

Where do you live? In Chicago, the pothole minefield that it is, they definitely affect ride quality. When my car was on the street, I reverted to the KMACs from the TCKD. Now that it is a track only car, the TCKD plates, which are really nice btw, are back in. I found that on sharp impacts, the TCKD plates transmitted more to the body of the car. The KMACs where a little better since the bearing is suspended in urethane, but not nearly as good as a stock-like fixed camber plate (Dinan, etc.) for the harsh city streets. Be sure to put the BMW reinforcement plates between the plates and the towers so you don't get any creasing of the strut tower, as others have experienced. (www.racepad.com for details). John

#3.Mushy brakes? - from Mike Tse

(No mods to the brake system, yet...) I bought the car used and have never known any different brake pedal feel. it's a 95 M3/2 with 45k miles (acquired at 36k) For the first half or so of the brake pedal feel, it's pretty soft but feels linear in grip. I've felt brakes on other non BMW cars and they feel as if they are clamping down or nothing at all. (not very linear) Do I simply need a brake bleed? Pads and rotors look good on visual inspection. A fluid flush and bleed may be the cure all to your problem. If you make and use Jim Powell's brake bleeder http://www.apexcone.com/Bleeder/bleeder.html (thanks Jim for making this so easy), you can have this done in no time for about $1/10 what a dealer, NTB, Wheel Works, Canadian Tire... would charge to do this for you. If this does not cure the problem then you may have a leaking Master Cylinder. This is not fun and you'll need more BMW specific information to replace this bit. Good luck, and may the brake force be with you, Mel -----Original Message----- From: Mike Tse [mailto:phid_bombadier@hotmail.com] Sent: Wednesday, May 09, 2001 8:53 AM To: E36M3 Subject: [E36M3] <e36 M3>Mushy brakes? If you've never had the brakes flushed since you bought the car, it would probably be a great idea, ust to get the old fluid out that has absorbed moisture. Be sure to have the clutch slave cylinder bled also. If you are unsure when the brakes were last flushed, I recommend going to the dealer to have it done so they can activate the ABS and get all of the old fluid out. A perfectly good alternative would be to have it done twice with a normal pressure bleeder. Separate the two flushes by a week or so and use your brakes hard enough in between to activate the ABS several times. Do the first flush with normal fluid as it won't be in there that long. Do the second with a high quality synthetic brake fluid like Motul 600, Super Blue, Type 200 etc. If you have the flush done at the dealer, one time will be enough and you should spec a synthetic fluid. It is possible the dealer won't have synthetic. Ask them before you go. If they don't, buy it yourself and bring it to the dealer unopened. Most dealers will put a name brand fluid in, if you give it to them. 1 liter will be enough for each flush. The crankshaft sensor recall was only applicable to OBDII cars. Your 95 M3 is OBDI; it uses a different crankshaft sensor mounted in a different location. Call your local dealer service department and give them your VIN. They can tell you if you have any recalls still open. Recalls never expire.
