List, For those of you that bought new cars from the dealer, including the spare, what sizes and qty of rims and tires came with the M3? Specifically the sedan. I found today that my Byzanz M3/4 has 225/45 17's on 3 of the 4 corners, and a 245/40 17 on the left rear corner and no spare. The dealer told me they owed me a spare, but I think they goofed and owe me a different rim? Did the M3's come with whatever rim type as a spare as well (I have M Contours, should I have an M Contour spare?). What should I have, including the spare? Thanks for your help, you may be saving me mucho dinero, Mel

Need 96+ Upper Spring Plates Anyone happen to have a pair of front upper spring plates (31 33 2 227 903) for a 96+ M3 and their associated spring pads laying around? I need them by tomorrow and am willing to pay UPS overnight charges unless you happen to live near me (Massachusetts). I will either pay for them or replace them with a new pair. Please call me at 508-337-4951 if you can help me out. Geof

S02 PPs are great in the rain and good in the dry, but they really lack the crisp turn in and grip of the MXX3s. Though I kind of like the fact that my S02s never once made a noise under hard driving while the MXX3s screamed on the track. Your spare should be a 7.5" wheel with 225/45-17 on it. Check the lips on your wheels. The two rears should be noticeably deeper than the fronts. Either way, it sounds like they owe you a rim and a 245 tire for the mix. Oh.. no, no, no! :) The cars came with three 17x7.5" with 225/45R17 (two for the fronts and one for the spare) and two 17x8.5" with 245/40R17s for the rears. What probably happened was that one of the rear wheels was FUBAR and they put the spare on in the back. So, my friend, you need a new 17x8.5" w/ 245/40R17 rubber to put back on the rear and put that 225/45R17 back in the trunk :) Chester > List, > For those of you that bought new cars from the dealer, including the spare, > what sizes and qty of rims and tires came with the M3? Date: Thu, 10 May 2001 16:38:15 -0600 From: Jesse Caldwell <Jesse.Caldwell@Colorado.EDU> Subject: Re: In-Car Videos Back On-Line David & other list folk, Those of you who tried to ftp to matrix and grab the videos might have gotten the "talk to the hand" business. This is due to broken DNS. For example: matrix:~ > nslookup 24.130.4.11 Server: boulder.Colorado.EDU Address: 128.138.240.1 Name: we-24-130-4-11.we.mediaone.net Address: 24.130.4.11 matrix:~ > nslookup we-24-130-4-11.we.mediaone.net Server: boulder.Colorado.EDU Address: 128.138.240.1 *** boulder.Colorado.EDU can't find we-24-130-4-11.we.mediaone.net: Non-existent host/domain So, 24.130.4.11 has a correct reverse lookup, but the forward lookup is broken. tcp wrappers (very common unix program, especially with us security freaks) check that the forward and reverse lookups match, and if not, the connection is refused. Anyway, long story short, i'm not using tcp wrappers with my ftp server now, so anyone who had trouble grabbing the videos before should try it again. you might also want to talk to your ISP about it. having bad DNS info is a great way to get shot in the foot. Sorry about the incredibly off-topic post -- enjoy the videos! Jesse

#8. Laguna Seca O.T. - from Roger Baker
Top
Date: Thu, 10 May 2001 15:44:30 -0700 From: Roger Baker <rbaker@velodyne.com> Subject: Laguna Seca O.T. There's still some more room available in the upcoming May 25th open track at Laguna Seca (especially in the fastest run group, green). Check out the web site for specific event information, including registration & safety requirements. Tech is done on site so it's no cost, and the event is run with emphasis on safe & fast driving (passing on straits only, definitely no bumping). Many different types of cars will be in attendance (Audi, BMW, Cobra, Corvette, Mustang, Ferrari, Porsche, etc) & I'm sure it'll be a blast as usual. Some instructors will be available (for ride along) for people unfamiliar w/Laguna Seca, or who would like a little guidance. Fri MAY 25 @ Laguna Seca Raceway - $200 entry fee - 90 dB sound limit (Laguna requirement) - Passengers allowed (18 and older) - 3 run groups of ~25 cars each - Credit card payments through PayPal More detailed info and on-line registration at: http://www.norcal-saac.org/ -- Roger Baker
