A leakdown test is expressed as a percentage loss. I had one done on my '95 540i. A new engine should test in the 6 to 8% range for all cylinders. Anything over 15% on any cylinder is considered a failure at least on the M60 540i engine. My car (chipped) will rev up to 7250 rpm or so before the rev limiter kicks in. As far as I can tell there is pretty much no loss in power between 6800 and 7250 rpms either. Okay, but this still doesn't address the issue of why BMW would put staggered _wheel_ sizes on the LTW with same-sized tires on it. Perhaps they intended to put staggered tires on them, but MXX3s in a 245/40ZR17 size weren't available in 1995? Just curious.... -rb _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

This is when they > offered the lux. package btw. Actually, the very early '95 M3's started at $34,800. I doubt if many ever sold for this price, however. Dealers probably marked up the first ones that were delivered. My 9/95 production '95 M3 had a MSRP of $37,950 and destination/handling charge of $570. Options: Sunroof = $1,200 Cruise = 475 Computer = 500 Total = $40,695 Fairly standard options for non-lux M3. I wished I could have bought it without the sunroof and OBC but no Texas M3 could be had without these "options." BMW did not loose money on the sunroof and OBC I can tell you. BTW - The rapidly rising price of the M3 is one reason why the '95 M3 held its value so well for so long. New M3's were $5-6K more than the comparable '95 M3. Although, the '96+ models did have more/better features like larger engine, traction control, digital HVAC, better door trim and leather, etc. Lowell Seaton Dallas, Texas

The engine should have a load on it. You're better off revving it to redline in gear. Redline in 1st or 2nd gear can be easily reached at legal speeds. -rb >Date: Sat, 12 May 2001 23:52:42 -0400 >From: "Luis Veras" <veras@tricom.net> >Subject: Re: [E36M3] 1st time M3 owner tells all > >BMW odometers are ones of the most accurate in the market.
